ELITE has been desperately poor in many ways. The chaff of a chopper if you like: very technologically fancy but ultimately a superficial bluff.

I have a spreadsheet on my laptop of all my PS3 COD basic stats, time played, games, wins, ties, losses, kills, deaths, assists, headshots and then with formula, some of those stats per game. I type in from the Barracks of MW, WAW, MW2, MW3 and from the Player Card/Combat Record on BO. So, for BO2....?

No, nothing, the in-game combat record doesn't show all of those stats, such as deaths, assists, etc. ELITE app on the PS3 doesn't connect anymore, ever, and now the PC app is gone. What a bunch of crap. I can't even compare the most basic stats of an almost 6 year old game with the high tech of BO2, that's not ELITE, that's SPECIOUS at best.

A "hats off" post Ghammy, well done. Good input all round especially Izjar and Ayrton.

I know you could reel off a ton of this material, I'm pretty sure between us we all have. Certainly, Chestymorgue is on the same page regarding stripping away the superficial trash so that we can work with however good the underbelly game is.

Both BO's added good innovation for progression and customisation. That aside they have followed the MW series descent into quantity over quality, bling over substance, dillution over concentration, and so on.

WAW was the best COD in my eyes, and if you look at what made it great and the direction it went from the already excellent platform provided by MW1 you will see that COD has veered far from this model.

The maps were bigger - actually just as you described, they were models of places, as opposed to gaming maps which were then painted on (think paintball on a farm rather than laserquest in an arena).

The gameplay was very much strategy, skill and timing - gun vs gun, movement, support, technique and style with timing determined encounters, not which perk you chose or which piece of equipment you just used.

Matchmaking and connection were simple. They were host heavy not host/connection lag comp heavy. This meant that irrespective of whether or not you were host, you knew what experience you were about to have and how to adapt, counter it, or whatever. Whatsmore, you're inherently encouraged to stay in a lobby as your connection would increase as new hosts were selected when an old host leaves. I managed 20+ games at a time all on 4 smooth green bars (that actually play like that), even if my initial games were 2-3 bars.

As for talk of money and commerce, this is all about vision and sightedness. The best things are often made by those who love their craft. This is partly where COD came in at the start. The best business is always made by people that not only turn numbers around but understand what they are selling. Quality sells without promotional campaigns. Quality is its own advertisement. The quality of COD has seriously declined, yes it is bloated has-been. It sells off image, dillution and lack of a real competitor. I think this is perhaps as good as it gets right now, but a more visionary business ethic would see that quality is longer-lasting. A less "flash in the pan" commercial success.

Unfortunately we all (in our own way) live for today or the moment and business people can be excused for doing the same. However, there are now, and will be again people out there who want to develop a game that would appeal to the same FPS simulation purists you've mentioned, that will take us to a new challenge, satisfy our gaming needs and fantasies and blow the bloated current affairs away.

When, who, I can't say. I'm hoping soon.

The new maps were perfect for BOII, too small, uninspired, samey and brought absolutely nothing to lift the game from its depths of despair. When all those who have struggled with bloated high traffic match commands, comedic spawns, poor peripheral recognition and horrendously samey repetitive gameplay called out for the DLC to save us with better and larger maps, we got this. There are and have been these stat anomalies for a long time in COD and I find it a bit silly, but I suppose it's not the most important of issues.

[It is like there are some fictitious missing games played at a ridiculously negative rate added to the indiviudal game types for the sole purpose or corrupting the total stats]

2) The (K/D) Ratio stat is always round up to the nearest 2nd decimal place. So a Ratio calculated as 1.995 will be shown as 2.00. This has also always been the case with COD. I remember playing on COD4:MW and knowing if my K/D was 1.99 and my kills 19 900 and deaths 10 000, that I would need to hit a 2.00 ratio overall + find 50 additional kills (this number increases slowly with deaths). It was an easy way to see that a 18-6 game would give me +6 for example and a 18-0 game give me the whole +18.

[The relevance here to this thread is that if you use the formula posted by Izjar and myself, you may want to consider that you Ratio will contain a margin of error because it is to the nearest 2nd decimal/hundredth and depending on the magnitude of your kills this error could make your deaths calculation out by a few]

Thanks for all your responses.

I actually knew it was seperate console download limit but wanted to hear everyone's answer.

Whilst FoxHound responded to another thread, it was his response that inspired this thread. He failed to explain the actual limitations and so on, by simply suggesting that "any wrong-doing" is wrong and could hold consequences.

From what I knew and what I now know thanks to the responses is that you can only use the "paid for" account to download and this then makes the DLC accessible to all accounts on that particular PS3. You can download a second time to another PS3 using the same "paid for" account but that's the limit (used to be 5, now 2) and likewise have the DLC available for any account on that second PS3.

I think that it should be stated somewhere that this is acceptable/allowed and what is being paid for, and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should people be able to "do the wrong thing" and be punished.

For example, people shouldn't be able to download at another place they regularly play and then when another person plays there and has access to this DLC, some law has been broken. If this is the intention the DLC should be lockable by account (or by console if that is better).

I also don't like the idea that the reason this is not publicised is a potential reduction of DLC purchases, because this then implies an advantage is being taken on fearful or ignorant consumers, when in fact they are able to perform this simple and logical procedure anyway.

The limit of 2 seems fair to me and even if it is not stated anywhere (to maximise sales) I think it should be listed as a component of purchasing DLC OR otherwise it should be limited to 1. It's wrong to "let" people break rules or make them feel guilty for utilising the system in front of them to the maximum.

I hope this thread is a benefit to people.
