Re: Cumulation of Rants \ Issues and Fixes

vims1990 wrote:

Hey HotshotVendetta,

I've noticed you just joined the forums and I welcome you.

Most of the issues have been noted and raised since the game launched yet most of them haven't been addressed.

We have been asked for feedback regarding hit detection/delay lag/second chance glitch/knifing through bullets (hit registration) by the developer regarding these issues and either:

a) The developer at this time cannot be stuffed (this is me, putting it nicely) to look into it. (due to the hype of MW3)
b) The dev's have gone past fixing what could have been dealt with just after launch
c) It cannot be fixed
d) The dev's do not want to fix it - the game engine may restrict them for fixing certain issues.

I'm not going into much detail with your issues provided but you have to think for the dev's point of view.

With MW3 approaching with trailers, E3 & other marketing schemes by Activision, 3arc's dev's must be wondering if it's worth fixing what could have be fixed a while ago?

I'm not trying to flame your thread in any way. I agree on a few points raised in your thread but again, look in the search function of the forums and you'll notice how many times the word "hit detection," "lag," "second chance," "knife lunge," & "FAMAUG" shows up in a number of threads since November 2010.

As a consumer, it's disappointing to see a few issues not resolved by now but now, I'm come to a point that nothing will be done, a new COD game is approaching & basically, just play Black Ops as it is in it's current state.

So sad, but true. I've adapated my style of play to suit the game and had to abandon some of the things that I've enjoyed in the process. So many of the issues that have been brought up here are essentially the staples that give this forum any sort of threads. That's saying a ton and sadly, once the topic is brought up the flaming ensues.

There are some people that have gone out of their way to help out, and for that I'm exceptionally grateful. Sadly, I haven't seen any improvement in the way my game plays despite their best efforts. I just wonder how far a consumer should have to go in order to utilize something that should work adequately out of the box.

I'm quite happy with the weapons balance despite the fact that most of the best guns are available early on and they tend to dominate the game. I went through 15 prestiges on one account without ever really using the Famas, but on my 2nd account I've used it through 12 prestiges as my counter to the lag issue. The rapid rate of fire helps to balance out the poor hit detection.

Knifing in this game is thoroughly broken. In the beginning, it was as if everyone had Commando built in, and now I continually knife straight through people only to have them knife me from behind. Occasionally, the lunge will come into play, but it's such a random phenomenon that it's totally unpredictable.

I totally agree with the OP's stance on Ghost & Second Chance (the perks that I've dubbed Diaper Perks). Despite what other people have stated, I don't see any true counter to Ghost besides an SR71. In all other CoD titles, there has been something else in a perk slot (stopping power/juggernaut) that you would have to be crazy to give up and that does not exist here. There is also a motion sensor that will help, but that limits my gameplay to a certain area and leaves me constantly picking up my equipment if I want the uppehand on someone sitting in a corner ADS at a door. I also loathe Second Chance, but my understanding is that it can't be fixed any more than it already has been. I am VERY happy that TA listened and now credits the person that dropped the Second Chancer with the kill.

I will say that Treyarch has done an outstanding job on keeping the community honest. After surving Modded Warfail, this is a breath of fresh air. It's very rare that I find any sort of legitimate mods and they've done excellent at limiting boosting. Again, it is a shame that there are so many issues that have been left unaddressed because this has/had the potential to be the best in the CoD series.

Macc you've done so much to try and help people so I'll say that that reply is beneath you (and mean it with absolute respect). I've gone through many of your fixes and had my own cable company out to "fix" my connection to this game 3 times now. It hasn't improved at all regardless of what I've done.

My question to everyone is, should we as players of this game, have to force our existing connections to work on something that should work right out of the box? I can easily jump through a multitude of games without any problems and only have these issues while playing Black Ops. To say that the problem lies with the connection is unfair and most likely false when a better experience can be had with every other game. This does, inconclusively, indicate an issue with the way that Treyarch created the online system.

That being said, I've just adapted my gameplay to suit the issues in this game, but in doing so I've had to give up a lot of what I enjoy about other CoD titles.

Not really my job to take a side here, but as an avid CoD player, I get more out of the $15 that I pay for map packs than I get out of anything else that I play $15 for.

If you want a game where you can abuse game mechanics, that is dominated by 3 guns, and is hacked to death, then MW2 still has children playing it.

MW2 = QS, UMP, ACR, Intervention, so many hacks it's unreal, and is generally boring. It still has the rock glitch FFS!

Goodbye, you won't be missed!

Actually, there are hardly any "hacks" left and the rock glitch is patched. Good try buddy.

It wasn't patched earlier tonight, as there was a person in the rock with a claymore facing the 'hole'. Funny that 4 players in the lobby saw it, and the guy in the rock got so much abuse in the lobby he left. He was French if it matters, he went 18-4 in HC-HQ ricochet with 0 HQ's captured and called in 2 care packages.

It's supposed to be patched, but would you be surprised if IW screwed it up and left it open to another glitch?

Even though I do a huge amount of complaining about this game because of the hit detection and lag problems, I would (and do) choose it over MW2 because it does have more balance. I don't have to worry about being spawn tubed, infinite tubes (DC/OMA), commando lunges (even though knifing in this game is terrible), boosters, quickscopers... getting the picture? The Famas & 74u are horrible to go up against, but then again, most of the little kiddies that got the game for Christmas have moved on and people are starting to move away from those guns because they have gotten boring.

I'll deal with QSing in MW3 should it be included, but my guess is that it will be nerfed again so all the screaming kids will continue to scream and cry.

Again, no host migration and it's not split. This is just, legitimately, incomplete games. It seems to be something localized to just Domination in Ground War. Normal Dom games are saved in their entirety. All GW TDM games are just fine too.

I'm just trying to find out whether or not this is something that is localized to my group of friends or if this is something that should be brought to Treyarch's attention as something that might need fixing.

Well just yesterday there was a game on Firing Range that I went back to watch and the video started late, about 45 seconds in. I don't think that there being a host migration, but I was really high so I could be wrong.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on but I've gone back through my last 100 games and every GW Dom game starts fine but doesn't play through. I'd say maybe it was a fluke, but my team generally only plays GW so those games dominate my recent list. Even the scores stop short. It's really frustrating.

I got you. All I was saying is that it happens. I've never LOOKED for an exploit to make it happen but I've found my team in (both) positions before.
As someone said above this post-the better teams find a way out. Or, more likely, find a way to keep it from happening....

I got accused of using an aim-bot last night... love it.
I think legit reports work... the rest are ignored.

I've been accused of everything under the sun. It's always the person that gets stomped that wants to say that you're hacking, using aimbots, modded controllers, etc. I'm sure that I've been reported hundreds of times and never once banned/reset. It just makes me laugh.

Still boosting in my opinion. I hope they are banned.

Nope. It's not boosting unless it's a coordinated effort between the 2 teams. If you find yourself in a spawn trap, either find a way out of it or leave the game.

I believe the community's opinion on this matter is torn. A majority of those that do it believe it isn't boosting...those that don't believe it is.

Personally I believe that anyone that exploits a flaw in a video game design doesn't deserve the credit they gain.
Nicest way I could put it without starting a huge ole flame-a-rooski war.

Meh, my team routinely pins the opposing team back in their spawn. If they can't get out to cap points, that's a win for us. From what I've seen, the better teams actually find a way out.

That does bring up the point of teamwork. If you're playing by yourself, without a headset, you're probably better off playing in the Merc. playlist or TDM, something that doesn't require objective teamwork. The kiddies on the forum can yell at me all they want, and I'll just got to smile and say thanks for the killstreaks Flame away.
