Serious problems with Zombies

1) Matchmaking on Xbox is really messed up. Several times I can't even join up with friends and play because it always boots them (I have a dmz set on my xbox so it's not my settings), and other times it boots people just before the game starts several times in a row.

2) Only like 25% of people play with a mic. You can either require it for playing non solo/split screen, or give strong warnings about it. A 4-player coop game needs people to have mics

3) People who play do really stupid and obnoxious stuff when zombies is a coop game. One chest shotting the zombie with a kar that someone is farming points and powerups from over their shoulder seriously cripples the team, yet the only recourse is to leave. You can't kick the guy, the guy is never told he is not supposed to do it, and they usually have no mic.

4) No join in progress. Almost never does a game with randoms last to it's conclusion without someone leaving midway. Why can't there be join in progress?

Anyways, the end result is that only about 5% of random games actually go anywhere. Usually I am playing solo by round 5, or had to leave because they were being douches, or it dc's everyone before the game starts, or everyone else leaves in the first two rounds...

This was added to maps because the original first 3 maps had glitches to where you could accumulate infinite gun slots, and doing so was like 90% of the fun. Pack a punch and mule kick were the ways they tried (and failed imo) to compensate. Like most fun video games for most of gaming history, the developers didn't actually know what they were doing and created something fun by dumb luck glitches.

Now the extra slot costs 4000 dollars instead of nothing other than the risk of going down at the box, and you lose the slot and it's gun every time you go down... So I am not sure why you are complaining.

The map is harder not easier.

Here's what they are thinking: There are millions of players new to the concepts of FPS gaming since it has been made more accessible through consoles and consoles have become popular.

These people don't quite know about lag, and what effects it has on gameplay. They want it to be this magical mystery, and people to just think that somedays they have a good day and others they have a bad day. They don't want them to associate the idea that you shoot the guy 8 times in the face and somehow he only takes 3 hit markers and doesn't die, or the guy you run up and knife somehow magically knifes you, or the guy who shoots where you were standing a second ago and somehow you die... with that ping number. They are afraid it will cause people to be disenchanted with fps gaming.

It's really obnoxious because if you are an expert gamer you can look at the number and figure out how much you need to lead shot people. It's still a disadvantage since when people change direction you don't know what is really happening. You can also play more strategically instead of tactically in that case however.

But back in the day when I used to competitively play Doom 3, Gunz, and other games like that, I wouldn't play an expert without a < 25 ping unless it was purely for fun between friends. It simply wasn't even ground. The exception was GunZ because pings were always mutual due to the game's p2p system.

< 50 was really ok, but even then in a fast moving game you might have to lead shot a little. 75 was obvious need for minor lead shotting, 100 it started to get where they could always easily change direction and you just had to shoot at their average position. 150 + was mostly just guess work...

Imagine how less popular CoD would be if people associated these numbers with certain crappy game behavior and then saw that most games are being played at like 75 ping at best...
