MW3 - The first title in the downfall of the CoD Franchise

I love CoD, I rage and troll hard (even though I don't mean to lol), however, I strongly believe that MW3 is the start of the downfall of this great franchise.
The reasons (as i'm sure have been mentioned countless times before, but this is a democracy so I can speak my mind and add my two pennies worth)
- Really REALLY awful map design. None of them feel fun to play.
- Abismal lag compensation coding, did a 5 year old code it? Or someone with the mental capacity of a 5 year old?
- Piss poor matchmaking, Why does it insist on putting one "star player" in a lobby full of players with bad KDR's who get ripped to pieces every game. Should it not keep really good players in the same lobbies, and keep players with less KDR together so there's a bit of fairness. (
- Is it me, or is this game programmed to give sniper rifles an advantage over everyone else? You don't need to actually hit someone, to gain a hit marker, lag compensation to assist them when they're being shot at, 1 bullet kill (for all those scared of using a real gun with a bit of recoil), aim assist, I mean jeez no wonder so many tryhards use them, it's easier than ever to do now. (I'll await a negative response from all the youtube fanboys about this - your comment doesn't matter to me, so save your breath)
- Getting people to pay £44.99 (or whatever in the US) and then having the ordasity to charge people a premium for ELITE. which doesn't seem to work properly. We'll be paying MS points to download weapons next...
- Releasing a game where the spawn system is completely broken, and despite saying they're doing stuff about it ,nothing has changed. People spawn on top of you all the time in FFA, and even in team games if an enemy is in your spawn, why the hell are you spawning next to them? From what I've seen, they've only sorted 1 spawn issue (in dome where you stand by the trailer and look into the stone room)
- Why don't explosives (mainly grenades) kill people anymore. Last time I checked, I'm pretty sure Rocket Launchers and Grenades did significant damage in the real world. People moaned about danger close in MW2, which is fair enough, but I expect a grenade thats accurately thrown, to do a bit more damage than a stale potato.
- Why oh why have they reinstated Tac insertions in free for all. All you boosters are getting reported.
- "No last stand - **** you Last Stand!" - was 402's exact words at the conference when they announced MW3.. Yet it's still in the game...
- "No commando perk" 402 said, yet the melee range on MW3 seems to be worse than when you had commando pro in MW2!
- Last time I checked, I seem to recall that soldiers can actually run a lot further than 15 steps before being out of breath and having to walk... I'm glad there isn't the old marathon pro, but come on...
Despite all this, I still play it - WHATS WRONG WITH ME
I had a bash at Black Ops yesterday too - two games totalling 57 kills and 17 deaths (in 2 games of FFA) which I was quite proud of!
And if you get a trolling type message from me at any time on MW3, apologies in advance, but MW3 is the first CoD to make me rage this badly heh.
I believe Black Ops was, but Mw3 was food in my opinion.
MW2 was the first in the downfall imo. COD4 was the peak of the franchise regardless of the few hacks it had. ever since then it was on a decline. i never played WAW so i cant say anything about that. but MW2 was the start of the decline. there was so much wrong with it that one doesnt know where to start. then came BO. i hardly saw anything wrong with it other than Flak Jacket being overpowered and everyone voting for nuke town. MW3 has it share of problems obviously (qs still being in, lag, horrible hit detection etc.). but no one can say that THIS game is the start of the downfall. that honor would have to be with MW2. more than half of the things in that game were horrible.
If Treyarch's next release is as much of a disappointment as MW3 was then CoD is going to be on serious life support. I still have faith in Treyarch just simply based on the fact that they're way more involved with the community and actually seem to care about putting out a quality product rather than just shooting for huge sale numbers.
in the end Call of duty is top by a long way because
1 - You can play for 5 min or 10 hours and not be punished by the game for leaving early or not being able to play 24/7.
2 - The leveling system is not a grind.
3 - As a whole the game is fairly solid, not bug ridden unlike its so called competitor(BF3) which is bug ridden and obviously rushed out to try and compete( BF3 aint a bad game but it was rushed and will be its downfall)
In the end when i buy a CoD game i KNOW i am getting a game which will play well from the get go. People moan at the support and patches but Activision put out more patches than any game i've played, Still waiting for one on Xbox for BF3. With the new story and the next CoD being a Black Ops again which will most likely have zombies again CoD franchise has only just started.
MW2 was a lot worse than MW3
The series isn't in a downfall cause you're not adapting. Reality check mister. If anything this game has been uplifting for all of my friends after playing Crap Ops for a year. And I don't prefer IW to Treyarch. WAW was prob my favorite.
title says it all.... these doom and gloom fartknockers come out after every single cod is released... you all are sad, really.
But some of the points he makes are true, and you should respect him for an opinion.
Respect is not earned it is given... and not for opinions, for actions.
Pretty sure it's 'Respect is not given, it is earned.'
LOL. Yeah, I knew what I meant, but tried to change the wording around, without re-reading it, and got interrupted twice. Gonna be a long week![]()
I personally thought it was mw2, COD 3 is still my fave and I still play it only because its the only one that felt like a war game. You had to pick a class and stick with it to level it up...every class had a duty and you could actually drive a few vehicles....COD4 was a change from that but it was fun....they saw how much money they would get with flash and no substance and here we are today....MW3. I loved WaW and BlOps.
come on cod has been going downhill since mw1. the problem there isn't an fps out there that can match it for ease of use so I keep coming back, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Yea the downfall of all fanboys, finally!
Hopefully bf 3 get´s those nice customers, so only a few true people will stay and get rid of those annoying kids!
I'm not a fanboy of any fps, I like them or I don't it's that simple for me. BF3 is a good game but takes forever to get into on the other hand cod instantly rewards you for playing and thats why I keep coming back.
I think it's not necessarily the downfall but maybe a coming back down to earth. The Treyarch games have always sucked, and mw3 feels a little more like a Treyarch game than any modern warfare yet.
MW3 is so bad that it makes treyarch games look good.
@luckyaces yeh this is what i like to hear positivity in the cod community still having faith in cod, Even thought its not as great as it used to be, its not that much of a bad game mw3. i have Tons of fun on this game and hope this will continue for me in the further call of dutys.
Perhaps, like has been suggested, encouraged, demanded, and raged for; they should do a public beta prior to launching the games adequate enough to iron out the majority of the issues. This, of course, would allow them ample time to get feedback from the folks who flush...errr, spend their money on these games, so that a decent game could be released. I would rather the three studios focus on:
1) Giving me fresh content on a regular basis
2) Fixing my f'ing Elite that I will not pay for again if it isn't fixed
3) Developing a game worthy of my patronage
Instead, you have three studios scrambling trying to fix a game, when a simple solution to mitigate the problem was right at their finger tips. I have to be fair though, the culprit is more than likely Activision, with timetables and all.
