COD Series is in Trouble

Hey guys whats up,

I love this game as much as anyone here and get frustrated at the same just as much "almost" anyone here on this forum. When i play I and get pissed by the lag the weapon imbalancing horrible spawns and all the other cons that go with this game but the "good" thats in this game keeps me coming back. But with that bad feeling spawen a new thought. I just wish IW Activison SHG Treyarch would step and do more to fix their game that has grossed

$$$-BILLIONS-$$$.

It just seems like they wont give us what we want or even worse don't know how to do it. Lag, sorry this lag is WAY different than any other game... Damn if Gothem City Imposters can get lag and Lag Comp better than whats in the COD series then we have an HUGE issue. I feel as though the net code badly written or something because this is the ONLY that so HIGHLY INCONSISTENT it really turns people away from the game. So me I'd rather have some other company "COPY" the COD franchise but give us PROPER NET CODE DEDI's better for your fans better gameplay designs that make since and balanced weapons...

Well guys that may happen. I was never a fan of BF or Medal of Honor BUT I love what that new frost bite engine can do. The Tech and Graphics are SICK. YOU can't deny that. The problem for me anyways is the DAMN MAPS are waaaaaaay to big and really gives the game a BORING AS HELL feeling. Well what if someone made a tight close quaters game like COD with that engine and DEDI's??? New Medal of Honor "MAY' be that. IDK I'm just saying.

I Saw the new trailer for it and it looks just as good as BF3 on Xbox, mix that with COD style gameplay and more consistent online experience than I will stop the COD series, PERIOD. But thats a big if. I have never played MoH so IDK how the new game will play. But thats not all. We have the former creators of COD and others @ Respawn making a COD killer (New Engine and Innovations I'm sure) and dare I say A NEW HALO game with more of a COD touch to it which I saw the first VDoc and the game with a new engine and lighting LOOKS Amazing!!!!

So you put all those game in DIRECT Comp with the Next Blops that will probably have the same Horrible Net Code and WAY out dated Engine. Hmmmm IDK I dont see my self buying all these games. I will only get the best ones and sorry but COD is getting played out to me. And im a hardcore player.

Will TreyArch deliever IDK? But I hope so because I really do love the COD series.

I really dont want it to be Gituar Heroed.....

Call of Duty will never be in trouble because it is Call of Duty.  No matter what they put out it will be a best seller.   Everyone talks crap about this game but yet it is the best selling game to date.  EA can try to compete with it, but we all seen what happened with BF3, it bombed and really didn't come close to sales.  The name itself sells for Call of Duty and always will.

I do think MW3 is a good game. If it had not been backed by better games it would be regarded as a huge hit. But I think that Infinity ward and even treyarch need to buckle down and understand that they could lose big time. A few more slips from the peak will make them fall in to a hole they cant get out of. I think its safe for a few more years but if they dont make a surge in that period it could definatly, as you said "guitar hero"

For every person who stops playing this "bad" franchise there are just has many people who will pick it up next year for the first time.

Just because a few thousand people are over playing it doesn't mean jack. And a few thousand is what it is. CoD is not dying. Atleast not yet.

Saw the "Billions" in the middle of dollar signs...

Sure the game sales were Billions...but what about the millions it took to design, advertise, and ship the game?

If I make a product, and it costs me 200Million dollars to finally get it to the shelves...if the game sells enough copies and ends up making 500Million in sales...

We did not make 500million...we made 300million.

Don't throw the money figures out there unless you understand how everything works.

Sad but true. They do spend absurd amounts of money on advertising. Too bad they didnt spend a fraction of that on a few "capable" programmers.

The game is decent.....when you're not getting the short end of the net code stick.

Last I checked thats called profit. Is Activision profiting from CoD? Definitive yes. They broke 1 billion in sales of MW3 after 16 days and the franchise has made over 6 billion as of December. Is CoD in trouble? Definitely not. /facts.

The CoD series will be in trouble when no one buys the game; as of now, that has NOT happened, hell, like pariah said above me; with 300k folk playing every day, there is very little chance of CoD being in trouble now, or next year.

With new consoles just on the horizon they are most likely holding off to create a new engine based off the new consoles with more power; wouldn't make sense to create a brand new engine that will end up out of date next year will it?

Re: COD Series is in Trouble

I'd say IW is in trouble more than the CoD series is. I can safely say I won't purchase the next installment from IW without at the most renting it first. I saw over a million on Black Ops routinely last year but I hardly see MW3 reach that except on Friday and Saturday nights. And there have been plenty of times where I've gotten on Black Ops before MW3 and been suprised that there is actually more people on Black Ops.

    I didn't bother reading your wall-o-text

    but

MW3 made $1,000,000,000 in the first month

I would love to have even a small portion of that kind of trouble

Re: COD Series is in Trouble

I am sure a game like Guitar Hero died due to the crap that the music industry created and just wasnt as cost worthy due to Music Companies raising the amount of money they wanted for the music rights, etc, etc.

Call of Duty Franchise has none of that type of stuff to deal with. I think its safe for now considering the "space game" and other ideas they can still implement.

Now I will say this. The new DLC for BF3 coming out in June with Close Quarters battles may hurt the COD franchise. The thought of  total destruction with BF3s TDM game mode will be a very good competitor for MW3 . I mean the jump in BFBC2 to BF3 was higher than the jump in Blops to MW3 on initial sales. Of course we also may see the same lag results in those as MW3

    Just my opinion here.

PS I am surprise they made another Golf Game with Tiger Woods name in it Maybe it will be like the South Park version of the game

So what? The Call of Duty series probably makes more profit than Gears of War and Battlefield combined. However, the other titles I mentioned still find the cash to at least run dedicated servers for their paying customers to play on.

Cod series is in trouble cause you think so. Yeah. no. And I wont bother to try and explain why its not, as anyone that would post this has his ears covered and eyes shut anyway.

In trouble? Not yet, this game has damaged it's reputation though, none of my friends play it anymore, used to get a 4-6 man team every night, if I play it now which I don't it'll just be me.
