MW3 Freezing PS3

During a technical support chat with Activision, the technician indicated that "it's [complete ps3 freezing during MW3 multiplayer - this part is my summary] a problem we do see sometimes as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 tends to spin much more often than other games due to it's advanced engine". The technician could not provide any solutions other than for me to take it up with Sony.
I don't have a PS3, but maybe you can install it on your HD? Just an idea.
That seems like a viable solution, but I have no idea how to do it, or even if it is possible. Thanks for your reply. Any thoughts?
Googled "how to install a game to PS3"
This looks promising:

Thanks for that. Checked it out and did a little looking myself, but it doesn't look like it's an option for PS3.
PS3 does not offer the option to download game from disk. If you buy the game directly from the PS store, you can download it, but as far as I know they don't offer MW3 at this time. You could check, though if you wanted to buy the game again.
I've sent you a PM regarding the support ticket. I need some information to look into it further and try to resolve the issue. I just need an incident number to see what was previously provided to you.
I apologize for your issue. We'll do our best to resolve it.
Make sure that you try the disk on another Playstation 3. If you said that you purchased it at launch and only started to have issues now it means that there's going to either be a change/issue associate with the disk or the console.
I would also suggest that you delete the game data that you have right now as it may have taken the data from a corrupted disk. I would also suggest that you try a friends disk. If the disk worked fine on his console, it should work fine on your own.
Let us know what happens.
I've taken all of these steps. I've deleted game data and reinstalled. I've also rebuilt databases and file structures in my PS3. My disc worked fine in my friend's console. I only have an issue with multiplayer freezing about 3 minutes into a match. I can play single player, play other games, and watch movies with no issues. Additionally, this problem is not isolated to me, but it is widespread throughout the MW3 community. Do a search on google or youtube for PS3 MW3 freezing or disc read error and you will see thousands of hits.
So as you've stated, you disk worked fine on your friends console. You also said " other MW3 discs" have issues on your console.
I'm trying to do my best to isolate the issue that you're having. Since you decided to post the support conversation public, We'll go ahead and do the troubleshooting steps here. I'd like for you to try another copy of the game and try it on your console.
Before using the new disk, make sure to delete the game data from your console. The reason why this is important is because if the disk that loaded the data previously was corrupted, then the game data on the hard drive may be corrupted and causing the issue.
Activision has a 90 day warranty and a paid replacement warranty in case you have issues with your disk. We definitely do our best to take care of our customers if something happens.
One thing I will note, you stated that you had the disk since it was released and only started having issues a few weeks ago. There can either be two changes that happened, either the disk has been damaged either cosmetically or from the center or there is an issue with the console. We will do our best to troubleshoot the disk and if it is a disk issue, we'll do our best to help. If it is a console issue, you would need to contact the console manufacture which would be Sony.

True story.
Problem seems to be resolved. It appears to be related to the disc afterall, even though my disc worked in my friend's console. Upon borrowing an elite copy of the game, I had no issues after playing roughly 2 hours. Will post again if it resurfaces.
