The Wii U is not better than the Xbox. I've read several article that state that they know they cannot compete with the 360 or PS3, and that the new Wii is more based on "experience of play" than graphics.

Also, MS is making the XBox 720. However, no information regarding that console will be made available to the public until 2013.

Wherever, or whomever you got your information from is full of it.

Xbox 720? Have you guys even thought about it

360 is a circle. 720 is a circle too. They look exactly the same. It's called a 360 because they X is now in a circle. It would look the same if it's a 720.

When someone spins 360 degrees, they will end up looking the same way. When someone spins 720, they will end up looking the same way.

Anyways Microsoft said they will probably make the next Xbox in 2015, however some Microsoft employees are saying it will be done 2013.

My guess is on the new Xbox is it's going to be called the Xbox 3D or something. Where you can watch tv shows or movies on some free on demand section and you can watch them in 3D. They will probably make it where games will be compatible in 3D.

Call of Duty in 3D... Epic when a throwing knife comes at you :)

      Blops has a 3D playing option, although you need a 3D T.V.

Mrspuff you are looking way too much into this, the second playstation was called playstation 2 which makes it a playstation too, the new xbox will be called 720 because it suits the cycle, maybe the one after the 720 will be xbox 3d but seems a little to 3ds inspired to have that name.

Xbox 1080 (I actually remember the word "infinity") but just like corporate decisions even 99 percent of MS doesnt know the name until it gets greenlighted. It will have a 3 dimensional hologram where the X button is showing in the center of the hologram circle.

The attachemnt that look like a larger Wii sensor will throw projectiles at you in realtime that you have to preload before the game.

COD will have rubber bullets, rubber knifes, rubber tomahawks, water ballon grenades and a few flying remote vehicles controlled by the Xbox 1080 that will shoot rubber bullets too. As well as back by popular demand they will bring back flame throwers and missile launchers.

Sometimes the lag in the game will shoot out a projectile faster at you to make up for the sync issues but they might patch that.

Everyones map will be their area arund the TV so you can hide behind the sofa or the couch or Granma.

They will have a COD sensor suit to simulate where you get hit. alot of 12 year olds will tear off the sensors though and boost in the corner of the maps with buddies while wearing the sensors in their pants.

And every game will have its own item you load into the sensor projectile machine. The just wont be able to make games like Kinectimals or My Little Pony or anything that might get loose when you fall asleep on the couch.

Honestly though when they DO release it then its going to be something along the lines of walking with a gun and turning and firing. so when you are aiming up at a heli you are at least using a controller setup to aim up and have you still pointing at a TV.

BTW Microsoft owns Area 51 , the have a full scale COD gymnasium out there and are trying to fit it into a console.

This is all crazy childish bickering you everyone knows its already in production and that the new xbox console is coming. No one really Knows the actual name of it or its release stop listening to garbage critics that say stuff trying to predict their own failure.

maybe they need to predict their own deaths instead. and stay out of gamings business period we do not need critics or the f'n media anyway and we certainly don't need the hype for any of them and with that being said i meant this for every console period. Ps.I am a gamer for life.

Consoles all have a fixed life time, I'm not sure if you remember that before the 360 was the Xbox. It's not like Sony just came out with a Playstation 3 and not release 2 previous PlayStations.

Of course the WiiU is more powerful, it's newer tech. Does it look it at the moment? Not really because optimization has to take place and we have no idea about the finalised spec. The very early builds had a 4870 GPU and an IBM CPU, from rumours these specs have increased. The rumours of the WiiU being terribly underpowered compared to PS3 and 360 are clearly false. The reasons behind this are clearly obvious, we are having two seperate stories being told, and this rumour of it being weak is coming from an unamed developer, where as praise is coming from well known developers such as: Team Ninja, Crytek and Epic just to name a few.

The dissapointing thing is that news sites like IGN and Eurogamer are just presenting this as news, they are just being blog sites. They're traffice whores that well by presenting an article with slightly misleading title will deffinetely gather in a large amount of hits.

You guys need to visit news sites that are like editorials, I prefer CVG. They offer their own insight to what they believe is right or wrong and will explicitly say it. Other news sites have tidbits here and there however that is mainly because of the troll baiting articles that were published before hand.

As on the terms of new consoles, back in 2011 everyone was saying we have 5 more years of these consoles before the new ones come out. Now everyone is saying we need new consoles next year. The truth is, no one is ready for a new console other than Nintendo. I've said this numerous times and people seem to forget that Sony and Microsoft do other things than just games consoles.

Let me talk about Microsoft first, at the moment they are hammered, anyone who thought they would talk about a new console this year was seriously being stupid. They currently have a major workload for themselves. If you don't remember, at the end of last year the new metro dashboard was released, that positioned the Xbox 360 as an entertainment device. This was under the one UI plan that microsoft rolled out in 2011 for Phone, Xbox and Windows.

With the UI established MS is hard at work on at least 4 projects to be released at the end of the year, these are: Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Office 15 (Office 2013) and Windows Phone 8 (Apollo), these are expected to hit at the end of this year and are heavily focussed in this area. Other projects include migrating the whole Zune brand into Xbox Music and Xbox Video, Skydrive and Windows Asure.

On the gaming side, the announcement of a new console could remove the importance of Halo 4.

What we do know is the NextBox is expected to be backwards compatible, this from rumours that Microsoft's high end programmers, people behind the NTFS format (which windows ueses) and I forget this persons name but they are the person that advised Windows to use the x86_x64 architecture from AMD than to use the Itanium architecture from intel for 64 bit computing and was responsible for allowing x86 32 bit programs to run on x86_x64, have  moved from the Windows division to the Xbox division.

There are again two possible reasons behind this:

    1. They are working on the architecture level to support emulation for the PowerPC based Xbox 360 games, as MS moves from PowerPC to an AMD platform. So archetectural level work on the next console has probably been started.

    2. There's a grim story that many of the highend Microsoft employees (the people that actually changed the world of computing in the past 10 years (2004 ish)  believe it or not) are joining Xbox division to avoid the Sinfoskisation of Microsoft, which I hope isn't true.

Specs are up in the air, however I would like to point out a rumour about the nextbox having two GPUs. This is possible but not in the sense that people are thinking. Knowing from rumours that Microsoft is switching to AMD, it's possible that they will use an APU, which has a CPU and a descrete level GPU on the same die. Other rumours suggested that the NextBox will use a mid range GPU, a 6670. What mosts gaming sites don't understand is PC gaming, and if they did they would peice these three or four claims to actually find out what actually is going on for the nextbox.

An APU is good enough for gaming, consoles don't really run at 720p and most people sit quite a fair bit away from the screen to even realise the difference. I'm a PC gamer and I only care about it being 1920X1200 when it's a PC game, console games I really don't care that much.

With PC gaming you can pair up two identical GPUs for SLI (Nvidia) or Crossfire(AMD), to in theory double your performance (never double, its around 70%-80%).

With an APU you can pair it up with a X670 (x denotes generation number, ie 6670 for 2011 or 7670 for 2012 gpu) and run it in "Crossfire", so you have two GPUs working. This is very cost effective and low power solution that does give you decent gaming performance, on a PC. PC gaming is always innificient when compared to consoles so by optizamation it could really stand out.

On the Playstation side, it pretty much is the same side. Both MS and Sony are expected to use an off the shelf processor and gpu. However Sony is busy too by restructuring the company under the One Sony innitiative.

So there's an insight to what is actually going on with the nextgeneration of consoles, if anything at the moment in time. Also remember R&D never stops, its always continous at these companies.

    In the name of.....

OP, where are you getting these "facts" from? playground gossip? The new Xbox has already been LEAKED as being in development by the name of durango; and the WII U has also been shown to only be AS powerful or LESS powerful than current systems.

Either you are very succeptible to gossip, or are just a troll on his school lunchbreak, take a hike.

    • deathmore Novice 54 posts since
      Aug 15, 2011

Please take a minute to actually read my post if not the the basic jist is that the rumours of it not being powerful are to be taken with a grain of salt. Because ONE UNAMED developer said that the system is below PS3 and 360. This smeared across the internet with IGN abd Eurogamer  front paging the news. Now in  the real world, we have two stories, one from an unamed source or a similar story from credible developers suchas Team Ninja, Crytek and Epic, static that the system is very powerful and are very happy with it. with Yoshinoro Ono (Capcom Street fighter guy) stating it's easy to develop for and with Team Ninja saying  that they had a very very early dev model.

It's news sites that miss out all these important bits of information. Which people like you just don't get to read about. My post contains more information on the NextBox with information from variable sources, you should read it and understand that news sites are stupid, and mainly pay attention to comments and editorials from the writing staff as news has to be presented with out opinion. Anything with out an opinion is just stale.

If so how do you explain certain big developers (ATVI for example) pulling support for the WII U?

Please don't assume that I don't know anything; I only follow big gaming sites and devs on twitter for information on these things.

Thing is, no matter how powerful the WII U may end up being, i will still not buy it; they always cater to your casual audience, and in a couple years, no big titles come out for them, complete waste of money just to play the launch titles. The stupid looking tablet controller only makes me stay waya from it more, Nintendo need to get their act together and realise what gamers actually want; no gimmicks, just a solid system with good gameplay graphics and a powrful enough engine to run them.

        • deathmore Novice 54 posts since

Again, your information is flawed. These big news sites that you have been going have not been telling you the full story, you clearly have not checked their sources. Activision has not pulled out publishing on the Wii U. This was never fact, it was "advice" giving to Activision, from an "analyst", and we all know that not all analysts know what they're doing. This is what I mean by news sites like IGN, like CNET and now Eurogamer just no longer being reliable sources of information.

There is a job posting for Activision that explicitly says "1. In charge of project/release management of all digital content on key platforms (PS3, 360, WiiU, Wii, 3DS, PS Vita, and others as appropriate)". Whats even more surprising is that it says digital content, implying both digital sale of games and downloadable content.

          source: http://uk.linkedin.com/jobs/jobs-Project-Manager-Production-2811656

On to the whole no big titles come out for them. Nintendo was last place last gen, they did not know how the Wii will do, so being Nintendo they went ahead and just released all their games at early launch, then mid 2008 - mid 2009 no major nintendo games where released by internal devs because of well time it takes to make games, at the end of 2009 we saw NSMB, which if you don't like then I don't get why play games. It's about having fun and enjoying yourself. I will admit Nintendo was on thin ice with the Wii at that time but where supporting the DS like mad.

Your advice to Nintendo is to get their act together, well they are, they're building a solid online network known as the Nintendo Network, the console will has good gameplay with good graphics and of a rumours (no idea how truthful) of Epic trying to run Unreal Engine 4 on the Wii U. The controller as I see it is not a gimmick, it takes away HUD and UI elements from the screen to give you a more immersive experience. There's a difference between a gimmick and potential.

We'll see at E3 what happens. I would like to leave you with this one question, what has Microsoft been doing for the past 2 years to satisfy the core consumer?

most 3rd party developers are happy that it has more power than the previous incarnation...  hell, they are even more happy that nintendo is even letting them make games for the system...  nintendo is horrible at working with 3rd party developers.  Also, even a little more power than the wii is a lot of power (when speaking in terms of power that the wii has now)  It's still gonna be a system for fans of the company (grown up on nintendo here) and for parents who want their children to play games that are geared for them.
