What will happen to the COD franchise if this blows up?
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/338564/20120508/call-duty-black-ops-2-release-da te.htm
The clause at hand
"Activision will retain authority and responsibility over all titles within the 'Call of Duty' franchise (specifically excluding any 'Call of Duty' title set in modern day (post Vietnam). the near future or distant future, which shall be under the authority of IW consistent with and subject toSections 2(a) and (b)). including all creative, development and publishing decisions; provided that IW will be entitled to receive a residual IP bonus and a technology bonus from products published under the 'Call of Duty' brand as outlined in Section 3(d)."
Doesn't Activision own both Infinity Ward and Treyarch? I don't think this will "blow up" really...all concerned parties will probably be content with a financial settlement...
Interesting read, regardless. Especially the part about Activision "witholding money" so the devs will stay and finish MW3.
That could be a reason why we have been playing such a broken game; The devs hearts just weren't in it. Especially if they were held against their will by activision withholding their money.
Very interesting indeed.
Maybe now we can get quality over quantity. I'd rather invest in a game that was made properly, then get a broken game every year.
Maybe if Activision was out of the picture.
maybe if they actually paid their employees we would get a decent game.
That is exactly what I was thinking.
I just wish that IW and 3ARC would get over this and realize that they make the SAME game. They need to use that as an advantage and work with eachother, not be spoiled brats argueing about what time frame each company gets. Too greedy, this **** needs to end.
They do work with eachother.
No they don't, for instance everytime IW releases a game they say "We will not be using anything 3Arc has used." They have said that for MW2 and MW3.
Treyarch helped some with MW3. Not a major part but they do work together to an extent. Exact quote from the game credits "Additional development support from Raven Software, Treyarch, And Neversoft Entertainment.'
Thats about it and the programming, but as far as ideas and carrying them into the next title. It seems IW doesn't want to use anything from them. Even good ideas such as while ADS in BO on an objective, the objective disapears so you can see. IW just seems to ignore it and says NO we will have our own game.
Just little things that would make these games better by adding on to eachother. If the people who pay to play enjoy it then continue it don't get rid of it.
This is a two year old issue and nothing has come up on it except speculations. for one thing it did not affect the release date of Blops1 in any manner.
game informer has this link which goes back to the time of Mw2s legal fiasco.
I thing this is some kind of scare tactic to get MORE people to pre-order BO2. Think of it all of a sudden a few days ago MORe info was leaked on the suit .
something dont sound right.
excatly. all speculation, and for the activision paying people, the only solid thing we have ever heard is about the 2 noobs from iw who had talks with ea games breach of contract much.

You mean the 2 "noobs" who were co-founders at IW and were possibly some of the best FPS devs out there?
i actually meant knobs but mispelled yes they were but the fact they now do work for ea should some it up
There Not talking about the current IW team There talking about The old IW who are now RESPAWN IW is dead
Actually they are. If you would read it you would know.
i posted before about this very thing , this is why this game is broken. pretty much its like this...the promised large bonuses for mw2 which they then withheld in order to force the devs to stay and finish mw3. some devs resigned and left...others stuck around longer trying to get their cash , to no avail. the ones who stuck around were weeded out slowly i.e. fired or other means were terminated. basically they tried to hold the team hostage and it didnt work. so part of this game was made by the original team then dumped on the laps or ppl who had no idea how it was all assembled , there is where all of our issues come from. and im pretty sure that some of these issues were intentionally put into the game by the devs to cause our problems and in turn cause iw/activision huge problems cuz of how they had done their devs. makes perfect sense to me and it happens all the time. sweet revenge if u ask me. they just wanted the money they were promised , and were not talking peanuts here ITS MILLIONS. i dont blame them at all for the issues this game has if that is in fact why its "broken". serves iw/activision right for playing "dirty pool".
I didnt have time to read all the articles completely, but something I couldnt find was anything current about the w/z vs activision lawsuit. Last I heard the trial was supposed to start May 7th.
Personally, I dont see anything major happenening ..... other than maybe some money shuffled around. I dont think anyone is going to be hurt by it too bad ........ maybe have to put off the new bmw for a month or two but thats about it.
