Yeah, but that's just basically parroting back what I said. I'm more interested in knowing if you understand the why. Why we (or at least myself) feel let down. Why a simple "whoops, my bad, sorry." doesn't cut it. Why I'm suggesting something more than simply words?

I'll try to explain it so that you don't have to guess.

The reason why I feel let down is, for starters, the fact that being about 7 months in now, we're still faced with pretty much the same issues we've started with. Yes, connections have improved a little bit, but they're still worse than previous titles. The general consensus is that shotguns still need improved, but you guys refuse to do so because YOU (IW) are happy with them, despite the players not being. It took us fighting tooth and nail to get you to finally address DMH despite how obvious it was that it needed nerfing.

We ask that the dragunov be buffed and get a little damage boost for extra 1hko zones. You agree to "rebalance" it, but using none of the recommended suggestions for buffing it, instead trying to make it an RSASS clone. Anytime someone makes a suggestion, we're told "We'll pass it along", and then never hear back unless we practically harass you about it. Communication needs work. Teanah is doing a good job so far, and I hope she continues to, but it's still been lacking.. but you guys want to wait until MW4 apparently before you will really work on it. Look at the patch notes you guys have posted, and look at the patch notes for BF3. Tell me with a straight face you guys are doing enough. There's plenty that could be tweaked and changed for this game, but you guys don't want to.

It seems you guys are more interested in what YOU want as opposed to what WE want. Half the time when a suggestion comes back rejected, we're not given any real reason why other than "the weapon balance team is happy with it as is.". I get that there's time constraints, and I'm sure you guys are already working on the next title, but is it too much to ask that we get told WHY something won't happen? Or WHY something is going to be changed to function a particular way. For instance, why no damage buff for the dragunov? Why a recoil change instead? That was never even suggested as far as I know.

In terms of Apologies, the reason I don't feel they're enough is because they don't actually mean anything when it's followed by more of the same. It's like apologizing for smacking someone in the face, and then smacking them again right after. On here, you apologize, and then... what? Nothing changes. Yes, we might get a double XP weekend here and there if we're lucky, but that's it. If we're really lucky we'll see you guys nerf something like DMH.

The reason I suggest a gifting of content would help, is that it would show you guys are willing to give back to the community something of value. Something that we'd normally have to spend real money on. However, instead of us having to spend our money, you guys would do it as a "good faith" gesture, paying for it out of your own pockets. It would show that after billions of dollars in sales, the community still means something to you.

Sure, it sounds like "buying forgiveness", but it's certainly better than simply being told "we care" and not really seeing anything that shows it. A patch here and there that takes a month to put together (and even then only sometimes after we practically beg you guys to do it) just doesn't seem like a gesture of caring.

Anyway, I'm done ranting. But if you're at all curious about the "Why" aspect (at least in regards to myself), there it is. Take from it what you will.

@G IH A IN ID II voice chat on 1vs1 games like dropzpne please?

that is the dumbest thing activision has ever done to remove voice chat, its like muting cafes or subway trains cos people planned bomb attacks there. why hurt the majority cos of a few boosters ? better take away stats and keep voice chat.

when you play a game of chess with a friend would you want to be muted ? how retarded is this ?

    Further improvements to network performance.

Further improvements to the Spawn system.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have some sort of ETA on these fixes?

With the greatest respect Kastro187420. You asked me to answer your question and I answered it fully and explicitly. I understand the why is because we haven't agreed with every single suggestion proposed by members of this forum and that for many posting here, the game is functioning to a degree which they deem insufficient. For that I have personally apologized on many occasions. The team continues to right many issues that are raised here. Naturally these are forgotten quickly.

I understand that it appears that for those posting here MW3 isn't the game they would have designed if they were sitting in the designers chair, be they qualified technically or not, over the past 2 and a half years. It is the game we designed. A game where we have many technical constraints and responsibilities to which we are privy and forum members are completely oblivious of. We also have other communities to consider who are not represented on these forums. Like it or not the Call of Duty player is not a one size fits all individual when one gets to the scale we are operating under. One person's 'The game is too noob friendly' is another's 'To hell with this game it's too hard'. One SG lover's buff is a SG hater's worst nightmare, to pick a couple of examples.

We have listened to what the 'community' want and made many alterations as a direct result of requests made via this channel and will continue to do so. Suggestion doesn't lead, automatically to acceptance as I have tried in the most polite manner to let people know in our interactions over the months.

Let's take a moment to define want this community is shall we? In the grand scheme of things when one considers the number of people who purchase our titles, many of whom are still by all accounts playing regularly and I suspect enjoying the game, this forum attracts a small but very important, and highly valued fraction of the population of people who play the game. I always find it intriguing when someone posts on these forums as a spokesperson for the 'community' as if they represent the 27 odd million people who purchased the game and all the millions who play it on a daily basis. Is there an election where the 40+ million CoD players establish a council of representatives who speak for them? If there is please enlighten me as this is something that the company and development studios would like to fully support and endorse.

What I suspect is more the case is like any fan base the passionate people who come on here and represent a heartfelt and well intentioned position on a subject that they have been invested in over many, many years, for which we are extremely grateful since the franchise was built upon the support of these individuals, they have an opinion which is skewed towards their own particular perspective. It is our job to listen to these suggestions and act on any that are a) clearly functional impediments to game performance to the best of our ability on an ongoing priority basis and b) determine what we as the game's developers deem is in the best interest of the entire playing population when making changes to the game's design. People aren't going to get their way all the time I'm afraid since we aren't always going to be aligned on what is the right course of action to embark upon. Can you understand this?

I am always truly, truly sorry to hear when someone is not enjoying the game since we poured many man years into making a game to be enjoyed. I'm also old and wise enough to realize we'll never please everyone. As an example, I know countless people who are playing Diablo III and think it's awesome, but if one visits the forums for that game you encounter posts of a similar nature to those found here.

We desperately want to fix match making issues and improve latency disparity handling within the game. We have not stopped looking at these issues and in recent days even discovered new information that may be relevant that we are intensively testing under all manner of simulated lag, packet loss, jitter etc. conditions. IW wants above all else for the net code to be as near perfection as possible. I've even staked my name on saying that I have faith we will do this before Black Ops II arrives.

As for the gifting of content as a means of alleviating dissatisfaction we have attempted to give out free content already in the form of new game modes and free Face Off maps. I understand that these aren't everyone's cup of tea but many people enjoy them nonetheless. Decisions like this do not lie with the studio - our Activision parent company has to sign off on matters like this.

Lastly, we've committed to listening to this community earlier on in the development cycle for the next game because we deem that of huge importance for parties on both sides of the creator/player wall.

I hope that puts a lot of questions people have in perspective. Mark Rubin has also discussed a mid cycle game refresh project we are considering. However, the same lens that I mention in b) above will be applied if this is the case.

    Cheers,

    Great post Ghandi ;-)

I know it must be annoying to have complaints here all day yet you still answer most posts and try to help us the best way you can even tho you are not that far up in the foodchain at Activision. The more people highly appreciate what you do and want to marry you.

Now please bring voice chat 1vs1 and 4-10 new full multiplayer maps as Content Drop. Danke.

The problem for Gandi  is that people are never satisfied. Always somebody complains. Its the generation of complainers, they spend their youth playing videogames instead of going out with girls, they complain about everything instead of taking action. Cos its safer for them on the internet. So what gandi does is comparable to Sisyphus ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisyphus ) , the game does deliver way more than 99% of all other games in this and former generations. I am happy about the game. The more important stuff is like having no voice chat on 1vs1 cos thats a human need, play chess you want to talk to your friend while you play, same with other boardgames, and mw3 is perfect to play 1vs1 especially now on the great face/off maps against one friend, so why take social interaction away ? that is really stupid and can be easily fixed. network is different for everybody. 90% of people probably dont even have their router set up correctly or are downloading stuff while playing, then wonder about network problems. People win games 40-0 thats crazy and shows you , some people focus on their skill and win whle others lose and just complain cos thats what they can do best. gandi i assure you if you bring voice chat 1vs1 and a lot of new maps in this content drop every problem wih everyone is solved forever and you will not read one more complaint here until blops2!

@ G IH A IN ID II (& Infinity Ward team)

Is there a posibility of bringing back some of the Modern Warare 2's multiplayer maps ?

I would want: 3 huge maps (Afghan, Derail, Wasteland - visually improved & some item changes); and 2 normal maps (Sub Base & Terminal - only visually improved). Please, make my dream come true and release some MW2 maps for MW3.

You could release those maps for free, as with the 2 Face-off maps (it would be the best solution... these maps aren't new to put them into a priced DLC). Or, if you wish to earn money from them, then release them as a DLC pack ---> I would buy the pack I love the MW2 maps (especially their big sizes)

I only wanna know if there is a POSIBILITY of adding a DLC with them (or releasing them for free). Is there a posibility ? Yes or no ?

Ghandi, fair play re the above post. I think the more considered on this forum know you've got your work cut out and there's no doubt you're currently living and breathing getting this sorted out for us, so thanks.

I've had a particularly hard time with this game since release and have only found it playable on a consitent basis for about four weeks from xmas to the end of Jan. I've always had huge sync issues and now since the last patch, the matchmaking has also gone completely to pot.

I have had to move to BF3 in order to satisfy my shooting-people-in-the-face needs. It's clunky and graphically inferior (consoles at least) and not without other faults, but on a basic mechanical level it works. But it's not COD. And I miss my COD. Hugely.

The question is, do you think by the time this week's out I'll be in a position to expect a better experience in terms of syncing and matchmaking?

It corrected itself later in the day.  If it pops up like that again I'll let you know the details.

Also it was a couple pages ago, but I watched a couple videos of people playing on Wii and I loved the look of the maps.  Why? Because due to the lowered capabilities of the system they had to remove a ton of useless clutter from the map and they look like the call of duty maps I remember and loved, back before the design team started adding a million umbrellas, trash piles, random bushes, and other things just to make the map look full.  Even look back to CoD 4, the original Modern Warfare, and the maps are far less cluttered than they are now.
