Why do so many people use attack choppers if 75% of the time they are shot down?

I see so many choppers get called in durning games and get shot down in a few seconds. I love when people call in lots of attack helos I just shoot them down in seconds. But it is Odd how so many people still use them even thougth of this factor.

Could be because they are the default kill streaks (I think.) and so easy to get... Maybe going for a certain title also or just lazy/forgot to take it off.

I use them and you would be surprised at how often I will go against a team that doesnt shoot them down. Mostly I can get a kill or two before they get shot down, but I have had a few games where I get 5-6 kills.

I carry a stinger and usually take the opponents choppers down before they even get into the war zone.

Pretty much everything in the assualt package gets shot down quickly but you still get xp for calling it in. Ergo why I haven't really taken the time to go for an Osprey yet.

You are only saying that because you shoot them down...

I also shoot a lot down, but try going Blind Eye, Assassin for a game or 2 and don't shoot them down, or better still put one in your streak...

You'll be surprised how many people let them wreak havoc and don't shoot them down...

    Precisely, I use them too and they usually do a kill or 3 before they get popped...

  Correct about the thing wreaking teams... Joined a lobby of ground war when I just prestiged so I didn't have a stinger, Attack Heli got called in and it literally maybe had 12+ kills, 5 of those were on me.
  
  Needless to say I spent a prestige token on a stinger after that. =3

Yeah you would be surprised how often they don't get taken down and depending on the map they can rack up a few kills.
Its just as easy to take out pretty much most of the killstreaks so a lot of people go for chopper since it is only 6 kills with Hardline.
If I put one up and it gets shot straight down I change to a different class.

I use the attack chopper all the time and you would be amazed how easy it is to get the 1k kills golden title for it. It seems like at least half the people that run blind eye just do so so they dont have to carry a stinger to shoot down air support

  well many run strikers and extreme conditioning.......I use attack heli which really helps towards a pave low, once thats up 10+ kills to the non blind eye users

I have noticed lately that when I play with randoms they rarely shoot them down. They will let them roam around murdering the map for lengthy periods. Then I change class and someone shoots it down before I can lol. I am now going back to my old methods of stinger/blindeye pro/LMG class. I get lots of care packages off of this stuff so eh why not shoot it down. Converting the other teams KS into my own works out just fine imo.

Choppers are still pretty effective, just depends on the team you are up against. Bunch of shotgun/akimbo FMG? You are likely to do very well with a chopper. In all honesty, when I call one in, if my chopper gets 1 kill im content.

I started running it because i'm a title/emblem whore. I got the 1000 kills with the predator/airstrike/pavelow, now am working on the sentry/attack helo/ac130. It's proven much harder to get the kills with the sentry/attack helo.

i like throwing a semtex at a heli and blowing it up then hearing the person ragequit 90% of the time its camped kill streak

I use it, its a good killstreak and quick to get. For every game it gets shot down, theres also the games that it doesn't.

I can't remember the specific order of the assault killstreaks, but I remember thinking that I could get a chopper pretty easily, but the next good option for KS was 3-4 kills higher, and so I settled on the chopper...does this make sense? I need to look at the order, or maybe someone can tell us...

  Attack copter is 7 there is no 8 then you get reaper, strafe or ah6 at 9 before the attack copter you get precision airstrike predator ims sentry care package uav in the 3-5 slots.
  
  I like to run predator airstrike attack copter as the are low kill streaks and easy enough to get multiple times in a domination game. they cause enough havoc and I can still play the objective aggresively and not have to camp for kill streaks.

    hmmm, I guess my thought process was that I could reach 7 with some regularity, but a 9 killstreak was a rarity (I know, I'm not great) and so went with the chopper.

    i usually run pred, attack, ah-6 .. as long as you can get to a pred... barring that you run into a trophy system you can usually net a couple kills.. pop out the chopper and then the ah-6 pops up. If they are shooting them down with a turret I'll hold off until the turret is gone to use the air support or steer clear of the area that it is in... can't shoot what it doesn't see. Players shooting it down... get the rest of the team as well as myself to keep them down so they can't get a shot off. I'm still gonna throw them out for the points but it never hurts to hold out for a bit.

I play FFA almost exclusively and you do tend to find that someone has a stinger. I run with a pred, helo and strafe. If I can I will try and get to the strafe before using them. Had a great game tonight on Fallen and you wouldn't believe the carnage I was able to unleash with all three being used at the same time...

You have convinced me, I'm switching mine out.

I usually get one a game (kill streaks stack after all), and more than 75% of mine get shot down, or it gets 1 kill.

It's only against a full lobby of 8 year olds that it cleans up.

honestly I find them easy to get and on occassion they rack in alot of kills, in an average game I'll pull in 3-4 of them you just pop them out and forget about them while you run around kicking more ass. I honestly poulled in 9 kills from one chopper yesterday in a tdm in village, some games you find people are too lazy to take them down and would just sooner run around in my rain of bullets and give me kills

One of the reasons I like using the L86 LMG is you don't need to carry a stinger, you can shoot attack helis down pretty quickly leaving you to choose another secondary.

I honestly think they attack helicopter is weak.Literally one shot from a stinger and its gone.I run Pred,Attack Heli,Pave Low... when i run assault.But honestly i just stick to support it seems to get alot more hate mail than running Assault

Shot down 75% of the time? Really? Maybe in Domination, but not in TDM and KC. 75% of the time it runs its course, unless I shoot it down. Same thing when I call one in, at least 5 or 6 free kills most of the time. Not many people shoot them down.

Personally, I'll take the free point(s) towards my killstreak. Hell, just yesterday I got a care package for taking out a strafe run. Call it in, pave low. So essentially, 2 stinger shots netted me around 10 free kills, as they let my pave low just wreck them since they were too lazy to shoot it down.

I dont know where the OP is coming from but no one on my team ever tries to shoot them down. they just keep getting in my way and keep getting killed.
