My thoughts on the UAV in MW3

Hi all,

Does anyone get the feeling that UAV's won't be as used as much as they were in Black Ops?

Think about it, the Assault Package offers stackable pointstreaks which differenciates from Black Ops non-stackable killstreaks. Back playing MW2, players used Predator Missile, Harrier & Pave Low or something similar to that.

With the Support Package, your pointstreaks don't reset when you die so players will tend to stick to the higher tiered pointstreaks.

What's your take on UAV's in MW3?

Cheers

Treyarch's killstreak system forced poor players to choose lower tier killstreaks because it was all they could earn. Hence the Ghost problem, hence the splitting of Cold-Blooded, hence the rethought map design. All I know is the noobs will be tearing up the Support package and the rest of us will be using the Assault package. More kills for me, scrubs!

I agree vims, I doubt many people will use the UAV from the Assault package. It was only popular on Black Ops because killstreaks didn't stack - so the UAV & Blackbird were the only two that directly helped them build towards their next award.

The support package UAV will be harder to spam.. Even if you use the three lowest pointstreaks, you will need to get 8 more points after your first UAV before you call in a second one. If you use the highest pointstreak you will need 22 points before you call in your second UAV..

The UAV isn't very popular at all on MW2. Plus they are so easy to shoot down, takes a few seconds using an Assault rifle - So you don't need to equip a launcher.

Yeah that's the same setup I use It just seems I'm the only one using the UAV most of the time - compared to Black Ops where nearly everyone uses it...

its because in mw2 no one cared about team work and were all out for kills i like to think of myself as a team player thats why i use the uav and the stinger

Yeah, I mean I never used the UAV except when I sucked bad that week and used the lowest killstreaks available. I do use the Stinger often, though, so I guess you could say I'm a half n half. Most people didn't care about teamwork unless they're in a party in MW2 because of montages, nukes, and there was no need (except when going up against a party, or does using your teammates as bait count as teamwork?)

i use the uav and stinger because i know none one else will im always the one getting killed over and over again trying to take out the chopper gunner or ac-130 before they rack up to many kills

team work is a joke in cod unless you run with a clan even then most clans only go after the kills

Really not sure... the UAV was only used sparingly in MW2...

... it's use will depend on what perks people tend to use I think.

I'll be running support or specialist. The assault killstreaks just don't seem too appealing to me. I was never a Killstreak fan to be honest. I wouldn't miss them if they left the game.

Also no, I'm not a scrub. I run care package, blackbird, and dogs in BO. I give my package away to teammates and use things that I don't have to spend time controlling. Choppers are boring. In Mw2, i run UAV, CUAV, and attack heli for the lolz.

UAVs need to be used ! People can use the UAV and two high streaks

I don't imagine a game without hearing once "our UAV is online", seems impossible to me.

I like that quickdraw and Assassin (Ghost) is in the same perk slot this time! I just Halleluja`ed!!! Then the Ghost fans need too choose. Seems too me like the same as stopping power versus uav jammer in Cod4. Much more balanced than in Black Ops. According to the Uav, yes i think it will be used as much as always. Im going for the Support package, and add the Advanced Uav as one of my streaks. All for the team.

I think the UAV will be used quite a bit during the first few months after the game is released, then slowing down a little. I run with a team and typically we have a uav up almost the entire game. I would say we will probably have a mixed bag of strike packages in the game depending on the map to cover all contingencies.

On the first day and maybe the second i will use it, but after that i will most likely only use it on stealth classes.

UAV is and always has been the best killstreak in the game. I will honestly be running just two killstreaks (UAV and either Counter/Balistic) so that I don't have to waste time getting the higher ones before they roll over. If Assassin becomes heavily prevalent (which I doubt. Tier 2 is just way too stacked), I'll roll up for the advanced UAV. Knowing where the other team is located is the biggest advantage in CoD. Even moreso than a sacred AC-130.

That's my take on it. I've always been a gun on gun player, and helicopters and **** in the air make me want to cut myself, even if they're on my team.

When Black Ops first came out I ran all lower killstreaks at first while I prestiged. It was just easier getting points that way to help me level. Once I hit 15th I switched to bird, chopper, and dogs.

Whatever will help me rank up faster in MW3 strike packages is what I'll use first. And from what I've read you'll get a lot more points in objective based games if you actually try and help the team. I felt like I should have gotten more credit for all the doms I captured and defended, all the flags I captured and returned, and all the bombs I armed and defused in Black Ops. And it seems like MW3 is going to.

If you are like me and like to play with a full party of friends.  Then you'd want to talk with your team before a match and have certain people select certain pointstreaks.  That way everyone has different pointstreaks and they'd be able to get the non-lethals that will help them spot enemies and then the better players get the higher tiered pointstreaks.  Instead of everyone just running around with predator, whatever.
