COD could be better!

Many people would disagree, but i think that COD should only bring out 1 every two years, not 1 every year, because if they keep doing this, its going to get boring, and worse! If they bring out 1 every two years, they will have more time to get everything in, they have more time to listen to there fans and have more time to fit things in! They have more time to bring out map packs and other bonus features, etc. If you think about it, most other sucessful games take 2 years or more, just to get the graphics and bonus features in! Within this time, they could make a mew game type, e.g. some type of NEW zombies, or something completely new.

Another thing is they could have it to have moreprestiges and features for when you prestige, so over a year not everyone is the top rank. (like on Halo Reach. Not many people are the top rank)

You do realize that MW3 has been in production for 2 years, right?

Same with Mw2, black ops, mw1, World at War etc etc.

Treyarch spends 2 years on their titles, IW spends two years on their titles. So in reality, you are getting what you are asking for. Maybe not with "COD" titles, but with the respective studio titles, thats what you are getting.

Personally, I think we are getting better titles per 2 year span because of the every-year releases for the COD titles. What one studio does, the other studio makes better/learns from.

    Edit:

Example: things that Black OPs had in it, MW3 has learned to take out. Why? because the feedback from BLack ops added MORE input that what they had gotten from just MW2. so yea, the jumps may look small because they are yearly. But they would seem even smaller if they were only making this much progress every 2 years.

wow well i guess you didn't look then bc IW has been working on MW3 for 2 years so can't help when they come back to back every year bc of treyarch. they do listen to there fans an they have fit things in just fine. an graphics and features are just fine an they did make something new it is called KILL CONFIRMED AND TEAM DEFENDER. well the only reason ppl don't get all the prestiges is bc they stop playing an end up playing another game then they come back to call of duty its called stop taking a break so adding more prestiges is dumb and many ppl don't reach the top ranks bc the suck at COD

    COD could be better!

Well the problem that I see with trying to do anything groundbreaking is that IW/Treyrach or any other game developer work on 6 year old, out dated consoles. The PC is the only thing that is either really close or is already compatible with working on next gen gaming and until we get the next gen consoles then we cannot expect anything ground breaking from COD. I can guarantee you that IW and 3arc have so many ideas that they would love to add to there games that could be very ground breaking in COD like having everything destructable (similar to what BF have been doing), having weather conditions on every map, more realistic movement and character models, random things going on during gameplay (something similar to what Blops had but on a much higher scale) and the list goes on.

The problem with them trying to add all that in a game with everything that they already have done is impossible on these current consoles that just cannot handle that type of gameplay. Even lowering COD's 60 FPS will not make that much of a difference and the 60 FPS is COD's niche (It's what makes COD a fast paced FPS). So until we get the next gen consoles (which I believe that xbox will be the first to introduce there new next gen console next year as it will hit the 7 year mark of console life span), we will have to wait for IW/3arc to make the major overhaul on the COD series which we will not see until 2013-2014.

Really? I think the piece of crap multiplayer that is part of MW3 is worst than BlackOPs and MW2. The lag compensation crap is ridiculous. Puts a damn 2 sec delay in games at times. The matchmaking is pathetic as well. Takes forever to find a decent game and if I try to play with friends from different parts of the country, just forget finding a game within a few minutes. The spawn system is worst than any of the previous iterations. They haven't learned anything from the previous games. Damn engine is old as hell as well.

    COD could be better!

What many people fail to realse is that they ARE essentially done every two years, we just have two companies working on them.

CoD has never had major glitches, they have all been easy fixes, for a game that is made in two years I'd say thats pretty damn good.

Leave it be, I'm fine with a few unseen glitches that get fixed relatively quickly, most games nowadays are the same, look at Duke Nukem, it had 14 years being made and it still turned into a steamy turd pile, time means nothing if certain glitches (care package and javelin for example) can't be found until the players get theri hands on the game.

Exactly, and people don't realize that IW caters to more than the small forum fanbase, and need to try to appeal to the MASS AUDIENCE. Which they do extremely well, especially with MW3.

They already take 2 years to develop the games, thats why they alternate betwenn Treyarch and IW each year.

The OP means that they should give the devs an extra year so they could compleatly polish the game.

    Re: COD could be better!

I don't see it as a problem that the game hasn't changed very much from title to title, rather that there are very obvious problems that the devs somehow ignore and refuse to fix.

For instance, why do the maps have so much clutter and visual obstructions? Didn't they learn anything from MW2? The more you restrict line of sight, the more the game becomes a dice-roll to hope that when you turn that corner the enemy will have his back to you, and not vice versa.

Combine that with the unpredictable spawn system and the whole thing is just one big series of gambles. Maybe the enemy will suddenly appear on your flank when you take a certain route, and maybe they won't. You won't have any way to know until you try. The only solution to the constant risk of being flanked is just to put your back to a corner, giving the enemy no choice but to walk into your waiting sights.

Suddenly you have this environment in which you can't see the threats around you and you have no choice but to just run the gauntlet and hope for the best. Skill and strategy take a backseat to dumb luck. THAT is my biggest criticism of the entire COD series, and it really makes me suffer to think that none of the devs sensed this to be a problem even after so many attempts to refine the series.
