Black Ops 1 Gameplay Question

I got this game and really do like it despite all the naysayers on some reviews but I do have a question relating to how to continue the play when the four man team is being directed by 'Bigeye' the SR-71 Blackbird to the ComSat station and after it is disabled you have to exit out the back and run on a catwalk and an avalance occurs and after trying to complete this part and even if I am the second person out of the building I always get caught short and watch ' Harris ' tumble to his death. It seems that no matter how I play it I am told 'You did not stay with your team' and have to restart. Well after an hour or so I gave up and now am here trying to see if there may be a workaround to continue. I have a Steam download and checked the files to make sure they were ok ( that has happened a  bad file causing the game to hang up) and they were. I have looked at a couple of walkthroughs but it didn't help much they more or less say stick with your team and playing it I am up the back of Harris getting out of there no matter how quick I leave the building after yanking the com electrical out of the box....I'm stuck fellas...somebody throw me a bone.

    Are you jumping across the broken walkway right away?

    I had great difficulty with that jump as well.  However, I was finally able to get it done.  The window for the jump is very narrow.  It is not a problem with the coding in the game it is a problem of timing.

    It is a very difficult area of the game.  I accidentally got the jump the first time I did it but then was a bit lost on what I was supposed to do and got killed by an avalanche.  I swear it probably took me twenty times to get past it again.  If you don't continue running and following direction on the fly and complete the next obsticles it will start you over so you have to make the cat walk jump again.  So when you make it, just know it ain't over you gotta keep going.

     

    I have to admit I would have preferred Treyarch not to have put such an obsticle in the game the repetition of the do overs really distracted from the story and was a constant reminder that it was still a video game.  It reminded me of experiences with old video games that it would seem that frustration was the goal.
