Hey Mac, good to see you keep this thread going.
Firstly, thnx for referencing me for the DNS part, good to see that it helped a lot for some...except me
(No good DNS servers close to Australia)OK, my next problem:
Ever since i got MW2 i radomly disconnect from xbl, while playing mw2.
Last year already, i tried different things and i forwarded all possible ports.I haven't had this happen in any other game(BO, BC2), only MW2. Started playing some MW2 again and it still happens.
So yea, what else could i do?? Atm i'm expecting that the same thing will happen in mw3....
Recently i realised that on my account at my isp(webpage, not router) i can change some port blocking as well...
Copied from page:
"The following can be toggled:
- Port 25 (smtp) inbound and outbound
- Port 80 (http) inbound
- Port 135 DCOM SCM inbound
- Port 139 (netbeui/ipx) inbound
- Port 443 inbound
- Port 445 Microsoft Windows File sharing / NETBIOS inbound
These ports are commonly used for security exploits and denial of service attacks.
If, however, you would like to disable port blocking on the above ports, you can do so by clicking the toggle button below."
I was thinking it could be port 80???

hmmm you do come up with the interesting things dont you
and nay worries on the nod i always give props were due.ok it could be something as simple as needing a clearing the cache
Go to the dashboard, Find the Settings Menu, and select Memory.
Highlight the drive symbol and press Y. press X, X, left Bumper, right Bumper, X, X.
if not .. and this is going to be completely a guess the only thing I can think of its due to the voice chat part of mw2 or the hideous inclusion that is iwnet.
but anyways the ports you mentioned..
25 is for email wont be that
135 is mostly used for remote access ..doubt its that
139 is mostly used for file/printer sharing..doubt its that
443 is mostly used for nnsp (think usenet ect)..doubt its that
445 is as it says on your page basically..
....
80 is for the internet html ect as you said it might be that you need it for xbox live so if that works cant really see how its causing a problem but then nothing is cetian in life especially when it comes to the interwebz.
this is one of those hard to trouble shot over the net things and im gonna suggest something that if you know me know i never usually suggest but... have you tried with the xbox in the dmz? the only reason i suggest this is if it works in the dmz then we can safely assume that the problem is a simple port issue.
short of a better idea.. id say go for trial and error test it and see what happens.
we'll def work this one you know how much i like a challenge

What is your NAT? Open or Closed? If open you dont have to do anything. If not, foward one xbox and DMZ the other.

Do NOT put one in the dmz,
depending on the age or settings possible on your router,
assign both static ips, and then use port triggering NOT port forwarding on each xbox ip

Guys just a heads up on some info and it may be useful for anyone with connection issues.
I always had bad lag and poor hit detection in black ops. It pissed me off to no end. After spending the last 4 days with this game i can say this is no longer a problem. MW3 hosting system is just like MW2's was. The only time you should experience any bad lag will be due to host and not the system.
As for my 1 tidbit that made a little difference for me. There is a theater disable button now. You can choose to either have your games saved into your history or opt out of recording. I chosse to disable it and my connection was even better. Hope this will help a little.
