Craptivision, step up and admit the games need dedicated.

There's a simple fix to all this. Spend a little of your billion's and buy some damn servers.
I know there is little hope of this happening treyarch has basically said that the next game will be p2p yet again.
i think treyarch/activision/infinity ward should spend a bit of money on the loyal fans of the series.
Dedicated servers for a game with as many players as CoD would cost way too much. The reason other games such as BF work is because there simply isn't as many people playing them.
By the way, dedis would not solve lag issues as lag exists there too. As long as there are internet connections involved games will be subject to lag, be it small hints of lag or huge spikes. No online game is lag free.
The only thing dedis COULD solve is host disconnects. Activision has little to no incentive to provide us with dedis as they don't justify the cost of setup and maintenance.
Get used to it, it is highly probably that console CoDs will never be played on dedis.
im not expecting dedis anytime soon. but i still think the loyal fans should have some form of money spent on them somehow. i mean free map packs for call of duty elite members is a good start.
You paid for Elite so they're not actually free lol
And no, Activision/IW/Treyarch/BH should not be forced to give their "loyal fans" anything. Fact of the matter is, they made a game, you bought it. It's playable and techinically if they really wanted to they could pull all support from it and move on to the next title, but they don't.
What's to be considered a "loyal fan" anyway. Surely it would have to be someone who's been playing CoD since the first one or at least CoD4. With how common it is for people to have multiple and/or switch live/psn accounts the number of "loyal fans" would be way too small to warrant a gift for them.
I'm not saying it would solve lag but dedicated servers would make it much better. BF3 on ps3 is awesome to play with minimal lag. Hosting servers is not that expensive. They wouldn't be losing money on COD. Bandwidth cost is going down not up. And would be helping the future of the series just by the fact of a overall better experience.
They maintain WOW serves they have the expertise in house to make this work in the most economical way possible
The monthly subscription model is coming and there has to be dedicated servers then so get a freaking head start on it.
Fact of the matter is, there is money to be lost in dedis. Any extra they have to put in is money lost. The game runs fine for the majority and that's all they care about. Small tweaks to lag comp to the point where it's at MW2 or BOs level and the game is playable to just about everyone. CoD has thousands if not hundreds of thousands more players than BF does, dedis would cost a lot more to run on CoD games and we all know Activision love themselves some money.
Not to mention that because CoD titles are an annual thing it would be likely that dedis would stop being supported once a new CoD title came out.
By the way, Live members have been paying for subscriptions for years and we don't have dedis either. PS3 won't be getting them simply because they'll start paying eventually.
I don't understand this. Titles like MW3 and BF3 are almost endless online experiences and here you are saying BF3 is awesome to play, so why do you need another game? It isn't awesome then, is it?
having 10-12 consoles connecting to a computer with 10xs the computing power of all consoles involved will reduce lag greatly. i dont know how many games you have played online but there are tons that have what seems like no lag at all. dedicated server will never happen because activision does not want to cut into there bottom line at all. just the money from elite could buy and maintain dedicated server for the next 3 CODs.
Proof of those number claims?
How much a dedi costs to set up and maintain?
How much money was made from Elite? (which is a Beachhead product btw)
How many dedis would be needed?
I don't personally know any of those things, but you seem to know a lot about cost and maintanance.
Btw, I never said lag wouldn't improve. I said any game where internet connections are a factor are subject to some level of lag, even on dedis. A tweak to the lag comp system to where it matches that of MW2 or BO would fix a lot of peoples complaints.
The number of people that buy COD and play for a month and never play again after 2 month is huge. 25+ mil copies sold over lifespan is a cod release and cod title hold there value when being sold new. over 1 million paid elite member to date. huge percentage of witch would not have bought all 3/4 map packs.
There is money here for dedicated trust me. It's minimal in grand scheme.
You hardly answered any of the questions I asked and clearly aren't reading my posts thoroughly.
A game like CoD has too many players, setting up dedis for that many players would cost a fortune in set up, maintanance and man hours. Which from a business stand point isn't worth the effort or money. And we all know Activision loves that green.
CoD games don't NEED dedis. The game runs great for a game with so many players, sure lag comp is an issue for some, but that can be fixed with a patch as stated in previous posts.
You clearly don't know what you talking about either. Go back to the xbox forum fanboy. I have zero time for somone trying to start a console flame war in the thread.
And.... out the window went civil discussion.
At no point did I attempt to start a console war lol
8-12 million to set up 20000 servers
1-1.600,000 to maintain yearly
1 million elite memberships = 40-50 million
beachhead studios is owned by activision/blizzard
i cant believe your proud to have been paying to play on live for years that like being proud to rent an apartment for your whole life.

thats like saying car companies dont have to make replacement parts!!
I don't know if any of those numbers are accurate as you provided no proof of it. For all I know they're just your estimates. But lets assume they're accurate. That's money that activision will not fork over and really has no reason to because as I stated in other posts the game runs fine for the majority and that's all they care about. Lag comp can be fixed via game patches.
they are estimate of course im not doing a ton of math right now!
oh and i know activision will never ever ever ever pay for them but they could if they wanted to.
There's no doubt about that. It's just not smart from a business point of view and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
They don't but to be competitive they do.
