IW this is how you balance out Infected. This is a must read! Community post your ideas here. (Edited)

Throwing Knives are NOT the answer. It is the easy way out. The quick solution to an bigger problem. I agree there should be some kind of anti-camping measure but Throwing Knives are not it. They make Infected overpowered and games last only 2 min. With throwing knives it's like Lobby > 2 Min Game > Lobby > 2 Min game. It's ridiculous. They were right the second time around getting rid of them. Also the 5 minute variants feel too short.

 

Now with the 10min variant I like what they did with it. It gave crappier weapons but the trade off is you get Specialist now. The problem is this mode is less frequent than the T.Knife variant,  which should be adjusted or removed completely. Also there should be some kind of secondary, even if it's just a single low ammo weak pistol. It feels out of place not having secondaries with low ammo primary weapons.

 

Overall good progress is being made to balance out Infected but more still needs to be done.

 

Ideas to achieve that balance:

 

1. No effect on K/D. I know I personally wouldn't care about charging at Survivor's 15 times in one match and dying if it didn't effect K/D. Along with this you could also create an Infected leaderboard being that this is the second most played mode now it probably deserves it.

2. Infected get more XP+Score per Kill and/or Infected get XP+Score reward everytime a Survivor is killed by an Infected. Right now it is impossible for first few Infected to get to the top of scoreboard. If there is more incentive to keep Infected from quitting they will be more likely to stay and win the game.

3. Two Starting Infected. This may be unnecessary but it is an option.

4. Put measures against camping for long periods of time (auto-slay), if this isn't possible or just seems unlikely read option 6.

5. Quit+Rejoin makes you auto-infected. This is a must.

6. Just completely removes maps like Dome+Seatown since they don't work well with Infected. Edit. This appears to have already been done. Another option would've been to keep those maps but add barriers to the "unfair" spots.

 

If at least some of those options came into effect it would fix Infected but Throwing Knives aren't the answer. Infected should be a game where skilled Survivors that know the map well, how to stick together and how to run-n-gun can survive. Lucky throwing knives ruin that.
