Re: Xbox on a wireless connection cheating?

Anything you do to intentionally give yourself an advantage over you opponent is cheating. Now, granted, there is nothing they can do about this other then fixing the matchmaking. I have to use wireless because of where my router is compared to my system, but I don't do it to lower my connection quality to gain an advantage. I can not control whether my roommates or our friends and loved ones use the internet here. So, even if they could see that your signal was degraded due to multiple things running across your internet connection, they couldn't ban you for it, let alone kick you. All they can do is ensure that they put people in the same area, with similar connection speeds, in the same lobbies.

However, people tend to forget that people from around the world team up and go into lobbies as six man teams and because of this, that isn't always possible. We can always dream of Utopia, but fairy tales are just that.

Have you done any ping tests? Whether I'm on wired or wireless my ping and speeds are always the same.

I don't get how this lag compensation system works. All I hear about is how bad connections have such a huge advantage in this game. I used my phone's 3g mobile connection to play MW3 just to test it out and it was god awful.

This is a very old thread. Why bring it up ?

But Yes Adjusting your Qos or downloading torrents would be a violation because you are knowingly doing it for want of a better word.

you are intentionally adjusting your speed to make the game easier for you.

BTW slowing your connection down etc doesnt make the game better. I did experiments and nothing changed. It was a placebo.

And of course running wireless is not cheating because they give you a wireless adapter in the console.

Now I DID just get a netgear 600 because it has N connection base and have a lot better hitmarkers.

3g is not meant to make the console run better. Its designed off of voice more than data sent. I could word it really technical but cant remember how it was worded to me. Something like the towers for the phone arent designed to handle xbox type data. But I am too sleepy.

Re: Xbox on a wireless connection cheating?

Right. Well I mean honestly if I want to test a theory out, then I'm going to do it, simple as that. In my findings, crippling your connection does absolutely no good anyhow, at least for me. I've tried torrenting files and uploading to youtube while playing as well, and it was 10 times worse. I only needed a few minutes of playtime to figure this out.

However if this does work for some people, then in my opinion that's a problem with the game, not the players. I mean, if you can gain an advantage by bogging down your connection, then that's pretty @ss backwards on the devs' part, don't you think?

Yeah I know that. I was just testing it to see if a super crappy connection really was like god mode like everyone seems to think. Unless you're saying a 3g connection isn't the right kind of slow connection to test this theory with?

Hosts should automatically spawn in as an assault juggernaut. Otherwise hosting is a death sentence. You can always tell when you host this game. Avoid it like the plague...Migrating Host

Haha, but they have their high quality internet hosts to **** over! Otherwise the game won't work!

yes the in game lag comp or whatever people call it should give everybody a even playing feild. im no expert but the combinations of equipment provider ect proberly makes it imposable for them to get it right add in people downloading messing with settings i would think it just turns into a minefeild.
