Currently Being ModeratedRe: MW3 Lag Is out Of Control
I have seen "lag" in BF3, it does not affect someone seeing me first, or 60 rounds into a guy and he turns around surprised he is being shot and kills me, it slows down the play, 3 shots is a kill, simply slower responses.
LAG exists in all games, in all networks, the difference in MW3 is what you do NEVER happens as you do it, not slower, not faster, not at all. This is the challenge for most, we have all played laggy games, skipping on the screen, the result "i shot him" is still the result, or you missed him because you could not turn quick enough.
If MW3 was simply just "lag" here and there, i could deal with that, moving slower or faster yet my results are "still" my results as i carried them out - cool, this is not the deal however, lag on MW3, affects lag comp, which affects the data sent/recieved or some other reason, maybe the engine is broken who knows.
One key point which causes this illusion in the game is client side/server side data does not equal, the data ( packets you send/recieve ) are not equal, they either drop on server side or it drops on the client side. Which causes the effect we see and experience in the game, why? who knows, packets drop at an excessive rate depending on the lobby, some are more, some less.
I am certain if the only problem was the actions in the game simply took longer/slower, we would not see the conversations we see taking place. A simple network monitoring tool set to monitor the ip of your xbox on all ports will show this in full color. Interesting indeed

I have played every call of duty and i agree this is the worst one for lag they should go back to old ways we know it works.

the problem for me is consistency , one game might lag so bad i have to lobby my party , the next might be fine...and yet the next might be just a lil lag comp-esque. i just wish it was the same every time so i could tweak router settings / adjust gameplay to account for it and get some kind of consistency as far as my gameplay stats. its to the point that some games i wanna punch babies in the face

I have had this same experience. The problem is when I have great games, I sit and wonder how bad the other team is cursing because they shot first and it never registered. There really is no measure of how good a player you are on this game, only a measure of how good your connection/lag is. That is what is frustrating to me. I have to admit, it is much more enjoyable to win TDM by 5000 points than to lose by 5000 points...

You guys keep saying no but the Xbox is unable to push the engine to render true HD. If it can't handle true HD because the resources are stretched how can it handle running a host and client. The games are not reducing features or textures they keep adding on top of them. They need to off load some of the work.

Not going to be a problem. Next gen console will be here in the next 2 or 3 years.

I'm talking about right now, not next gen. Of course the next gen will have more CPU power until the games hit the limit there too...

You will not see servers for COD on these consoles and probly not ever. The start up cost is enough alone to make Activision not want to do. Setting up more server then what WoW has take more then a couple million.
