A Summer of Black Ops

Here’s what you need to know about Specialists, Loadouts, Scorestreaks and everything in between.

Since the release of the Back in Black Maps during E3, the Black Ops fever has taken hold in our community with quite a few new players entering the fray. Black Ops 3 is now free for PlayStation Plus members until July 11 at 10 AM PT, and whether you are rediscovering your skills or experiencing everything for the first time, here’s what you need to know to get a running start in Black Ops 3

Specialists

Multiplayer combat becomes even more explosive with introduction of Specialists. Black Ops 3 was the first game in the series to introduce 9 Specialists with varying special weapons and abilities that optimize your gameplay style. Your multiplayer journey begins with four Specialists and the rest unlock as you earn XP and rank up. For your first forays into battle, consider playing with Ruin’s Overdrive for run-and-gun action, Battery’s War Machine for an explosive engagement fight, or Outrider’s Vision Pulse for snipers and tactical players.

Loadouts

The Pick 10 system allows for maximum customization: choose 10 items from weapons, attachments, perks, and equipment to create the best arsenal for your playstyle. If you’re getting started, consider the Kuda, KN-44 and HVK-30: they are versatile weapons that should provide a solid starting point. Select your Perks wisely and create a stealth soldier (Blast Suppressor, Blind Eye), an intel-savvy operator (Awareness, Sixth Sense), or a fast-paced fighter (Afterburner, Gung-Ho). Whatever you decide choose perks, equipment and weapons that complement your playstyle.
Scorestreaks

Relentless, lethal and incredibly precise, Scorestreaks can be game changers. Consider equipping UAVs to reveal enemy locations, Guardians to secure areas, and Hellstorms to rain death from above. No matter what you choose, all-levels of Scorestreaks help your team, and its ultimately better to earn the ones you select so you can secure victory. Also, don’t forget to take the map and game mode in consideration when selecting your Scorestreaks to make sure they have the maximum deadly impact.

The October 12 release of Black Ops 4 is right around the corner – in the meantime, you’ll definitely want to join the party and have some summer fun with Black Ops 3!
