Levin Resort
// MULTIPLAYER MAPS // GROUND WAR
Tour the Resort: The main Resort building is a massive structure housing three of the five objective points in Ground War. Get inside and learn its layout in a trial by fire that will teach you to see not only its risks but also its many opportunities. Outplay less-informed Operators and capture those objectives.
From the rooftops: The Resort rooftop offers the highest vantage points on the map, both for the surrounding environment and for its open view into the inner courtyard. In Construction, use the Zipline and your climbing abilities to stay on the move while keeping above the enemy.
East Tracks flank: If you can’t beat them, go around them. Hop into a light vehicle with your squadmates and barrel down the East Tracks to the other side, or pilot a Heavy Tank and blast enemy Operators who are out in the open.
In team-based modes, squads will either spawn by the North Tracks (north) or by the South Road (south).
The Resort and an adjacent Construction site make up the middle of the map, with the long East Tracks offering passage around the center.
For the purposes of this guide, we’ve divided Levin Resort into five sections based on key named areas in the map:
- MAIN SPAWN POINT: North Tracks (+ North Road)
- MAIN SPAWN POINT: South Road
- ADDITIONAL AREA: Construction (+ Courtyard Pool, Resort Suites)
- ADDITIONAL AREA: Resort (+ Resort Entrance)
- ADDITIONAL AREA: East Tracks
MAIN SPAWN POINT: North Tracks (NORTH)
The North Tracks is a great starting spawn. There are plentiful vehicles around with an easy flank route down the East Tracks plus direct access into the Resort and Construction. The Construction route is arguably the stronger of the westmost paths, offering a higher elevation compared to the opposite Courtyard Pool.
Stick close by the train’s cargo when moving down the East Tracks for greater concealment against snipers on the other side. When heading toward the Resort, look for Ascenders along the outer walls for rapid access to the best vantage points. To keep combat close, take the ground-floor entrance and fight indoors.
MAIN SPAWN POINT: South Road (SOUTH)
Take stock of the available vehicles when moving up from the South Road. Compared to the northern spawn, the South Road gets to the action more quickly when heading toward the Resort or the Courtyard Pool. The East Tracks remain a viable route, but you’re a bit more exposed than the other team who can use the train cargo for cover.
Use your proximity to the Resort to storm in and set up an early defense. If you don’t like the lower elevation of the Courtyard Pool, use the Ascenders to scale the Resort rooftop and fire down on enemies in Construction from above.
ADDITIONAL AREA: Construction
Opportunities abound in Construction, offering Operators plentiful climbing opportunities through the building site. Though it’s possible to conduct a successful ground-floor run, it’s generally best to search out high ground here. If you’re in a vehicle, use the dirt path to get around the material.
If you’d rather circumvent the dangers of Construction, take the far west path outside its boundary. You might still run into an enemy player, but it’s much easier to detect where they’re coming from; bring a long-ranged weapon for the distant sightlines along this route.
The Courtyard Pool south of Construction offers its own challenges. Though the space is more open, there is great cover potential by the low walls and from within the pool. Wherever you are along this route, watch for enemies looking into the area from the adjacent Resort.
ADDITIONAL AREA: Resort
The timid need not apply. Along the staircases and hallways of Resort, the fighting is frenetic and quick. When the building opens up into its central courtyard, midranged fighting comes into play, while along the rooftop and outer edges of the building long-ranged battles rage.
With three of the five Ground War capture points in Resort, games can be won or lost based solely on who has the stronger grip here. There are entry points into Resort around every side of the building, so consider your options when breaching the area. If you can’t break the enemy’s hold on the courtyard, take a vehicle to the other side and flank them from behind.
Snipers are naturally drawn to the rooftops, both for the wide views over the sides of Resort as well as the commanding vantage point over the inner courtyard.
ADDITIONAL AREA: East Tracks
The East Tracks environment is the most open on the map, a flat field with train tracks running through it. This is by far the most direct route for vehicles, providing the space needed to traverse the map quickly and get into position behind enemy lines. Be prepared to run into enemy vehicles on the way; make sure you’ve got the firepower needed to protect your personnel carriers.
Operators on the ground can do some damage here, too, provided smart use of cover and a powerful long-ranged weapon. Overall, however, this section of the map is best left to the vehicles.
Objective Overview
Overall Tactics
Ground War
- Flank the enemy by hopping in a vehicle and barreling down the East Tracks. The fight in Construction and the Resort can be slow going as teams give up and retake ground, but you can avoid it all by taking the fast route and launching your attack from behind. Use this tactic to hold the A and E flags on either side of the Resort.
- Move smarter, not harder. Look for Ziplines and Ascenders to help you reach long distances in a flash, whether launching to the top of a building or crossing from rooftop to rooftop. Set down a Tactical Insertion to maintain control of the area into your next spawn.
- Hold your position when you’re the last one standing in your squad. As long as one of you is still alive, the others can spawn in on your location once you’re out of combat. Use this to maintain the ground you’ve gained even if you have to hold back for a moment.
Invasion
- If you’re new to Invasion, there’s no harm in focusing your efforts on eliminating AI Operators. Even if they’re not worth as many points as a Player Operator, they offer a consistent point gain. Take a Sniper Rifle and blast them along their favored paths or get up close in the Resort and Construction to cut off their movement at the source.
- On the other hand, you can bet that many Player Operators will book it for the Resort, using its winding pathways and courtyard sightlines to ambush enemies. By jumping into the fray, you improve your chances of landing a more lucrative Player Operator elimination.
- Bring the firepower by using the available vehicles. While a sharpshooter can do a lot of damage with their weapons, it’s hard to beat a good run in a tank. The extra armor will protect you from basic ballistic attacks as you score points with devastating attacks from your cannon.
Top 10 Tips
1. All together now. Ground War is all about huge team battles, and while individual players can certainly dictate the outcome of any fight, it’s in working together with your squad and greater team that you’ll make the big gains affecting the outcome of the match.
2. Stalk the halls. Locking down the Resort is well worth the effort. Improve your team’s map control by discovering all the hallways and staircases within, using the confined passages to ambush enemy players before they know what hit them.
3. Refill your ammo. Look for supplies marked by a three-bullet icon on the minimap and Tac Map to refill your ammo, including your Lethal and Tactical equipment. This can get you going again after expending your munitions in a big fight.
4. Wait for the respawn. Sometimes it’s worth waiting a few seconds to be able to spawn in a more favorable location, whether that’s waiting for a zone to be captured by your teammates, a break in the fight to spawn on your squadmate, or even just to study the map for a moment to ensure you pick the best entry point available.
5. Get that streak rolling. Levin Resort is a big map, giving players plenty of room to take their time and reposition as needed. While it pays to play aggressively, you can still be smart, avoiding bad situations and always seeking the better ground so that you can start unlocking your chosen Killstreaks.
6. Ascend. Look for Ascenders outside of buildings and in elevator shafts. Use Ziplines to cross from building to building. You’ll cut down your travel time significantly, not to mention their significance as a means of escape.
7. Get in the Heavy Chopper. What the Heavy Chopper lacks in weaponry, it more than makes up for in its wide cargo bay capable of holding multiple friendly Operators. Drop them off on the Resort rooftop or parachute down by the East Tracks for the flank. Remember to fire off your Flare to throw off incoming rockets.
8. Engineer in the building. Strap on the Engineer Vest for its ability to spot enemy equipment, Field Upgrades, and Killstreaks through walls. This is invaluable when moving through the Resort and around the building sites in Construction, helping you to avoid enemy traps. The Vest’s improved Field Upgrade recharge speed is just icing on the cake.
9. Blind them. Equip the Smoke Airdrop Field Upgrade to call in a line of drones that blanket the environment in smoke. While enemies using thermal scopes will still be able to target you, the action will obscure your movement for most of the opposing team.
10. Launcher ready. Launchers are invaluable on any Ground War map and Levin Resort is no exception. Even if you don’t have a Launcher in your main Loadout, have an anti-air Loadout on hand to switch to when the sky starts filling with enemy choppers and aerial Killstreaks. Step back from the main battle, eliminate the threats, and then get back to the fight.
