Prebrief

Breach a cliffside getaway equipped with an operations room in the main residence. Deep in the Bulgarian mountains Payback is equipped with various elevations, windows, and many strategic angles throughout the mansion. If you’ve experienced the adventure that is the Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 Campaign, the mansion may feel a little familiar.

POI Overview

Payback has five major POIs to pay attention to as you tear through the mansion. Between the two main spawn points Driveway and the Terrace, there is Dining, Library, and Garden with plenty of opportunity for score and tactical eliminations. Watch out for the variants in elevation and keep your head on a swivel as you move from POI to POI and use your intel gathering equipment and skills to prevent any surprises.

Payback

Mansion mayhem: Payback takes place in and around a familiar Bulgarian mansion featured in the Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 Campaign. Use the many rooms and beautiful exterior to outmaneuver and outflank the enemy. If one route is blocked, there’s another one close by.

Saferoom showdown: There’s a semi-secret saferoom directly in the center of the mansion. Using it to cut through the middle of Payback or to ambush your opponents is an extremely powerful use of the Saferoom. Don’t forget to use the large red button to secure the heavy door.

Intel equipment: Intel is the most powerful weapon on Payback. Whether it be equipment or Scorestreaks, using non-lethal tools to find the enemy will make you a lethal weapon for your team. This philosophy also applies to denying information using Counter-UAVs and Scramblers.

Bedroom Overwatch — Alpha (A)

The Bedroom sits right at the end of the Garden and has a direct sniper lane toward the Garage. This is a prime location for snipers and LMG enthusiasts to control most of the Garden. On the other side there’s a ladder and a large hole in the broken window.  This is where players in the Bedroom can use equipment and fire down upon anyone attempting to cross from the southern side of the map.

Saferoom Lockdown — Beta (B)

The Saferoom can provide a huge advantage if you know how to use it. The security door can be opened from either side, so stay vigilant as enemies approach. However, with it shut there are a few strategies when it comes to using the door to your advantage.

The door opens slowly, giving you time to turn around and prepare to defend the Saferoom. This is also where Counter UAVs and Scramblers will obscure your location. Try using Prox Alarm cues to know when to escape out the other side of the Saferoom and do a wide flank, especially on non-respawn modes or after your team has taken control of the Headquarters.

Bedroom Dive — Gamma (Γ)

The mansion can get hot with enemy fire and explosives, but so can the exterior. If you’re in desperate need for an escape route from the top floor of the mansion, try diving out of the Bedroom window into the cellars to give you a bit of cover. From here there are several options, but getting here is the first step.

Map Focused Loadouts

Here are a few loadouts that serve as great starting points when you’re unsure how to succeed on Payback.

Mansion Raider

LMG, SMG

With a big gun, pack a big punch. There are many walls in Payback, so you’ll want something that can punch through most of them being able to, at the very least, put some damage on enemies hiding around corners. It also helps to be a little tanky and be able to brush off a close call with a frag grenade and not ruining your Scorestreak. You may not be fast, but you’ll still be able to get out of a sticky situation and slow down any perusers that may be on your trail while you reload between fights.

Operation ‘91

Assault Rifle, Strategist

The GPR 91 is a great middle ground rifle for damage, and with a little bit of help a greatly accurate weapon. Where Operation ’91 lacks in mobility, it makes up for in tactical prowess. This is also why Gunfighter is equipped because with the addition of a few extra attachments, you can have the firepower and the speed to really do some damage in Payback. Defend the objectives while not risking too much. Utilize the Scrambler to hide your defense location and really take the enemy by surprise.

Overwatch Marksman

Marksman Rifle, Recon

The Overwatch Marksman is a great setup for watching over your teammates. Whether this be in an objective based mode or not, there is always a reason to protect teammates and with a Marksman Rifle, you can do this from many distances. Payback has many opportunities for flanks and getting behind the enemy, so having to watch your own back is also a priority. Use your intel Scorestreaks and Forward Intel to see any attacks on your position coming before it gets there and react accordingly. With the Signal Lure, you can even bring the enemy closer and lure them into your crosshairs. Set up in the Bedroom to help with Domination, Headquarters, and Hardpoint zones while using the Spy Cam to reveal enemies to your team.

Use every angle that you can while playing Payback. Whether that be an equipment angle or straight up firepower, just remember that no matter the situation, there is always a path through it or around it. Remember to keep your head up and look above and below you, but most of all, remember:
