Modern Warfare III Multiplayer Map Guide — Bait
Prebrief
Deploy dockside on a summer afternoon in Florida. Bait is mid-sized and complex, offering multiple pathways to each skirmish. The dock stretches into long wings down the map’s sides, to the Loading Docks behind the Boat House and down to the Jetty and pool where dual levels present their own challenges.
Stick to the wings to keep enemies at a distance or get up close by trawling through the tighter middle path through the dock’s shopping center. With this many twists and turns, you’ve got to be ready for anything. Use this guide for a deeper look at the map, then set the bait and conquer your prey.

Bait
// MULTIPLAYER MAP // CORE
School ‘em: Bait’s compact layout is flush with tactical opportunities. With several routes to your target, the trick is locating the high-traffic areas and getting in a position to catch the most prey. Experiment with different approaches to maximize your map knowledge.
Work the Jetty: Get below and party along the Jetty. The alcove by the pool is well concealed with views on the Tiki Floats and up into the Boat House window. Space is more limited on the southern Jetty, but there’s value in the recessed kayak station and the ramp leading up to the Ticket Office.
Bait and blast: Build a Loadout for tight spaces like the Restaurant and Bait Shop. Pair something like an SMG and a Claymore; tag enemies on the dock with your SMG then pull back into close quarters where they’ll meet their demise.
Tactical Overview
In team-based modes, squads will either spawn by the Boardwalk (north) or the Promenade (south).
A lively dock connects the two spawns. The upper level features eateries and shops around the central Boat House; descend to the Jetty to fight along the water.
We’ve divided Bait into five sections based on key areas around the map:
- MAIN SPAWN POINT: Boardwalk (+ Break Room, Shop Front, Bait Shop, Kayak Rental)
- MAIN SPAWN POINT: Promenade (+ Ice Cream Shop, Pavilion, Restaurant)
- ADDITIONAL AREA: Boat House (+ Delivery, Alley)
- ADDITIONAL AREA: Jetty (+ Tiki Floats, Water)
- ADDITIONAL AREA: Loading Docks
MAIN SPAWN POINT: Boardwalk (NORTH)
At the top of the map, the Boardwalk sits adjacent to the Break Room offering a last line of defense before moving up toward the centerpiece of the area, the Bait Shop. The Boardwalk branches around the building, to the west cornering the Kayak Rental and to the east heading toward the Loading Docks.
Expect fierce fighting in the Bait Shop with the shelving likely to absorb many hits throughout the match. Crouch by the metal counter for protection when covering the shop; enemies can breach the building from all four sides, so take whatever defensive measures work best, including backing out to the Boardwalk to reposition.
Head right past the Bait Shop to cross the Kayak Rental where the path branches again back into the Bait Shop and toward the Boat House and Tiki Floats. The Kayak Rental area is useful when defending the Boardwalk against attacks coming up the Jetty ramp and from the map’s center.
Take the east path for a more focused approach, passing a pallet of containers outside the Shop Front with a double door entry into the Bait Shop. Further down, Operators can vault up to the Loading Docks to cross behind the Boat House. Mount your weapon on the low concrete wall above the dumpster for a good sight line down the Loading Docks and be watchful for enemies also posting up from the opposite direction.
MAIN SPAWN POINT: Promenade (SOUTH)
The Promenade offers ample walking room with only a small planter box for use as cover in the middle. An Ice Cream Shop and Restaurant provide interior battlegrounds, and a nearby Pavilion offers some overhead cover. Move up the straight east path to branch out toward Loading Docks and Deliveries or swing out to the seaside Ticket Office to bring the fight to the Bout House and Jetty.
A larger alternative compared to the Boardwalk’s Break Room is the Ice Cream Shop, ideal for defending the Promenade. It’s far from the busy middle section, sits in the corner of the map, and features a large front window covering the Ticket Office, Restaurant, and Pavilion. Crouch behind the ice cream counter for cover when defending against flank attacks through the doorway.
The battle intensifies in the Restaurant. The service counter and dining table offer some corner cover with the center mast adding a fun dynamic to the room, notably for its rebounding effect when targeted with throwables like Frag, Stun, and Flash Grenades.
Move toward the water on the Promenade to reach a dining area leading to the upper Ticket Office and down onto the Jetty. The addition of a lower level complicates this side of the map, forcing Operators to contend with threats from above and below.
Take the east route past the Pavilion to move toward Delivery in the center or swing out to the eastern Loading Docks. When covering this lane, mount your weapon on the planter box or use the Pavilion for a lower profile.
ADDITIONAL AREA: Boat House
The largest building on the map, the central Boat House nonetheless funnels Operators into a close fight. The boat obstructs views across the room. Toss grenades over its top or even climb on top of it for a better view. On either side, a crate with a blue tarp offers waist-height cover in a pinch. A crawl space in the back of the building leads out to the rear Loading Dock.
Note the west-facing openings inside the Boat House. The large window offers a clear view over the center of the Jetty and for a different angle you can move through the door to the Boardwalk viewing platform or swing out to the Ticket Office platform. Use these vantage points to help clear the Jetty of enemy forces.
South of the Boat House, Delivery stacks a shipment of food for the Restaurant right in the middle of a clearing. Climb onto the lower level of goods for a heightened angle while taking stock of where to move next from this crossroads.
ADDITIONAL AREA: Jetty
The Jetty sits below the rest of the map, sharing space with a pool and a trio of Tiki Floats. Jump over their thatched roofs to retain a height advantage when moving through the area or get down and circle the octagonal wooden base seeking out targets. If things go sideways, you can always jump into the pool to cool off and reposition.
When moving around the floats and water, always be mindful of the Boat House window as well as the Boardwalk and Ticket Office overhangs, all prime positions for attacks on the Jetty.
The poolside ramp ascends to the Boardwalk with access to the Bait Shop and Boat House; entry to the Loading Dock sits further back in the Alley. The ramp and overhang pose the biggest threats to the Jetty, so prepare to counter attacks from that direction. Stay underneath the Boardwalk by the festive flags to remain out of their view entirely, enticing them to come to you.
The south end of the Jetty features a small alcove with kayaks and a wooden platform and ramp back up to the Ticket office. While movement is a bit restricted here, the obstacles available offer interesting ways to ambush passing enemies.
ADDITIONAL AREA: Loading Docks
Expect longer-ranged fights to break out along the Loading Docks. Thick cover pieces on both ends encourage shootouts across the length of the dock. Use the metal tower along the loading area to close the distance if you need to, a good tactic for bringing short-ranged weapons into a more optical range.
1. Tour the sights. Bait packs many features into a small space, so take your time discovering how every piece connects. Load up a private match to explore outside of combat. If you’d rather jump straight into battle, know that it may take a few matches to get your sea legs. Enjoy the sights along the way.
2. Vantage point hop. Jump over the Tiki Floats to move from the Boardwalk to the Promenade and back. Add the Boat House window for total coverage over the Jetty below. Though it’s a risky spot to defend, the rewards are well worth it for aggressive Operators.
3. Juggler. Toss grenades against the center mast in the Restaurant for its unpredictable rebound effect. Double up Frag Grenades with the Demolition Vest; be mindful that you’re not the one the grenade rebounds to. For a different effect, throw Sticky Grenades onto its surface, effecting a strong mid-room blast.
4. Cool off. There’s no shame in retiring to the Ice Cream Shop or Break Room on the far ends of the map. These are valuable last ditch defensive points that are best used to improve your odds against an incoming attack before moving back toward the center.
5. Clear the Loading Docks. Lock down the Loading Docks to cut off a key pathway for the enemy. Use its mix of strong cover pieces and mid-distance sight lines to pick off your foes, forcing them into the Boat House or down onto the Jetty. There’s room to move, so change up your tactics from fight to fight.
6. Come on out. Interior spaces like the Restaurant and Bait Shop favor close-quarters battle. Mid-ranged Loadouts tend to perform better on the outer docks where there are more varied sight lines. When a threat appears from within a small building, use your grenades to flush them out into the open where you have the advantage.
7. Drop anchor. Bait is full of nooks and crannies ideal for placing a Tactical Insertion. They’re doubly useful in respawn objective modes where it’s often crucial to maintain your position. Drop them in a safe corner before heading into the thick of battle so you can get right back to the fight should you fall.
8. Shields up. Combat heats up in respawn objective modes like Domination and Hardpoint where players have the difficult task of defending and breaching tight spaces like the Boat House, Restaurant, and Bait Shop. When defending, use items like the Trophy System and Scatter Mine to keep threats at bay; on offense, lead with explosives before rushing in.
9. Ready for action. There’s danger around every corner on this winding map. Equip the Mag Holster to minimize your downtime while reloading. Pair it with the Compression Carrier Vest or the Compression Plate to boost your health regen when capturing objectives and after eliminating enemies. The sooner you’re prepared for the next fight, the better.
10. Got my eye on you. You can never go wrong with basic intel gathering, a boon to any team on a compact map like this. Equip the UAV for a low-cost radar sweep and the Portable Radar for localized tracking. Anything to help anticipate the next attack is worth your investment.
