Threat identified: Equip the Threat Identification System in your Gear slot to automatically ping the position of enemies caught in your crosshairs while aiming down sights. Marking them this way makes it easier for you and your team to track them down through a myriad of buildings and pathways.

Work those arms: Use the available objects in the environment to climb up through less-conspicuous routes. Hop onto the scaffolding leading from the Jungle to the Shops or up the red awning over the ice cream shop and into Burger Town. Take the unexpected route to retain the element of surprise.

Protect your back: The Restaurant’s central position makes it a valuable stronghold on the map. Improve your survivability within by keeping your back to the middle, planted wall. This cuts down on the number of sightlines toward your position, so you can focus more on what’s in front of you.

Tactical Overview

In team-based modes, squads will either spawn in the Plaza (west) or by the Funicular (east).

High in the mountains under the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain, between the spawns, lies a luxurious tourist destination with tiled paths and high-end shopping and dining.

We’ve divided Vista into four sections based on key areas around the map:

-       MAIN SPAWN POINT: Plaza (+ Tower, Burger Town, Music Bar, Entrance, Terrace)

-       MAIN SPAWN POINT: Funicular (+ Office, Football Shop)

-       ADDITIONAL AREA: Central Walkway (Restaurant, Marketplace, Shops, Snack Bar)

-       ADDITIONAL AREA: Jungle (+ Gallery)

MAIN SPAWN POINT: Plaza (WEST)

Vista Plaza POI

The Plaza is a prime location for midranged combat as Operators swarm in from the various pathways leading in and out. Head toward the center of the map through the Terrace, swing up through the Entrance toward the Jungle, or move past the southern Tower toward the Marketplace. Set up in the Music Bar when defending the area for a more concealed position.

For access to one of the area’s best power positions, head to the Burger Town by the southern Tower. Cover its east-facing window for views over the Marketplace and toward the Central Walkway.

MAIN SPAWN POINT: Funicular (EAST)

Vista Funicular POI

Descending from the peak of Sugarloaf Mountain, the Funicular ends its journey at the mouth of the shopping center. Multiple routes lead to the Central Walkway in addition to the wings branching out through the Football Shop and Office.

Crouch inside the tram and mount your weapon along the rail when scanning the area. The concrete supports also offer good cover in a pinch. When enemy aerial streaks threaten from above, move to the Football Shop or Office for their overhead cover. These areas also make for great launching points into the top and bottom lanes of the map.

ADDITIONAL AREA: Central Walkway

Vista Central Walkway POI

The Central Walkway and Restaurant are the primary meeting points at the center of the map. In general, the walkway excels as a passage across the middle while the Restaurant is better suited for defense. Both areas are key thoroughfares and are likely to see constant battle throughout the match.

The cliffside Marketplace to the south offers a somewhat more concealed path across, though Operators on the lower level are susceptible to attacks from the stairwell, Burger Town, and the Snack Bar railing. Pick the path that works best in the moment; timing is everything.

ADDITIONAL AREA: Jungle

Vista Jungle POI

The Jungle is a high-risk, high-reward pathway that cuts along the underside of the Restaurant across the top of the map. Operators can traverse the building’s outer wall to avoid detection from above, but they’ll still need to be mindful of attacks from the Terrace, the Gallery, and the brick walkway.

The Jungle’s greatest advantage lies in its separation from the Central Walkway, providing another means of crossing the map when the action at the center is too hot. The Gallery at the western end provides a useful pivot between the Jungle floor and the Terrace, the eastern brick walkway offering a similar transition to the upper Shops.

Top 10 Tips

1. Snap to it. Vista’s plentiful midranged sightlines put a premium on a high Aim Down Sight speed; the first to draw is often the first to win. Look for Attachments that improve this stat on your weapon so you can easily lock onto enemy targets.

2. Watch the lasers. Operators with visible lasers on their weapon risk a greater chance of being detected. Look for the telltale beam when moving through high-traffic areas like the Restaurant and Central Walkway. Consider the disadvantages of wielding visible lasers when outfitting your own weapons.

3. Climbing momentum. Remember to hold down the Mantle button when climbing objects one after the other. It makes for smoother and faster climbing, as your Operator seamlessly grasps one handhold after another.

4. Closed for business. Not all of the businesses in Vista are open. The ice cream shop and bookstore are closed, as is the Terrace dining area. By knowing which areas of the map don’t pose a threat, you can focus better on the areas that do.

5. Right under their nose. Move underneath the Restaurant balcony when traversing the Jungle if you see or suspect enemy Operators above. It will be harder for them to spot your movement unless they hop down to your level.

6. Cover out. Use the Deployable Cover Field Upgrade for better defense in a pinch when moving through more open areas like the Central Walkway, Jungle, and Plaza. Set up near unexpected angles to catch off guard any enemies who are busy looking toward the usual cover spots.

7. Easy score. Vista’s clustered buildings offer multiple points from which to launch attacks against enemy aerial attacks. Consider swapping to Scorestreaks and using a Launcher to clear the skies while also working toward your next streak.

8. You are here. Vista offers signs and kiosks that make for great vantage points for the creative climber. What you lack in cover you gain in intel and the element of surprise.

9. A better view. The Recon Drone Field Upgrade offers a powerful advantage in team-based objective modes. Deploy the useful tech to get over the map and mark enemy positions, an invaluable tactic when you’d be otherwise blind to their movements.

10. Take in the view. Vista’s mountainous views are breathtaking. Enjoy the sights while battling across the map and keep in mind that there’s no such thing as too much time in paradise. Queue up for the next match and expand your map knowledge match by match.
