Like the Machete, Wakizashi, and Sledgehammer also available in Black Ops Cold War, the E-Tool is as deadly as it is essential for outdoor operations. Read on for tips to help you swing it with style.

Unlock the E-Tool Now in the Store

Can’t wait to add the E-Tool to your melee collection? Consider the “Tool of War” bundle to acquire the new melee weapon instantly.

This bundle features six in-game items, including the Epic “Bunker Buster.” This Melee Delta Weapon Blueprint excels in the most rugged terrain.

The bundle also includes the “Revolutionary” Operator Skin for Garcia, the “Pinch” Reticle, the “Cuban Links” Wrist Accessory, the “Entrenching Tool” Weapon Charm, and the “Club Force Trauma” Sticker.

Whether you get your hands on the E-Tool via bundle or in-game challenge, we’ve got some tips to help you dominate the competition.

Top 5 E-Tool Tips

5. Jungle Mercenary. Earning multiple kills without dying using a melee weapon for camo challenges is no small task, but a solid loadout can make it a lot easier. Here’s a recommended build to get you started:

Secondary Weapon: Midnight Pistol Blueprint (Available at Tier 42 of the Season Two Battle Pass)

Perk 1: Paranoia & Forward Intel

Perk 2: Quartermaster & Gearhead

Perk 3: Ghost & Ninja

Equipment: Stun Grenade (Tactical), Tomahawk (Lethal)

Field Upgrade: Field Mic

Wildcard: Perk Greed

Completely focused on the task at hand, this loadout uses Perk Greed to stack your Operator with useful abilities. In the Perk 1 slot, Paranoia alerts you to enemies outside of view, with Forward Intel indicating enemy reinforcements on a larger mini-map, both vital for tracking your next target.

Pick Quartermaster primarily to recharge your Stun Grenade, a great opener for your attacks, and use Gearhead to place the Field Mic more frequently. In Perk 3, Ghost and Ninja keeps you quiet and off the radar.

Patience is critical to strike your enemies at the right moment. Avoid taking opponents head on and instead use your abilities to sneak up or flank them. Stay mobile to keep them guessing, and swap to your pistol in emergencies; it’s more important to keep your melee streak alive than to unnecessarily risk your life.

4. From the Start. When working on streaks, go straight to your melee loadout at the start of the match. You’ll move faster with a melee weapon equipped compared to a heftier primary, and more speed is always a good thing.

3. Reveal and Scramble. The Spy Plane and Counter Spy Plane are low-cost and effective. They’re both great Scorestreak choices and used best in combination, helping you find enemy targets while their own mini-map becomes a scrambled mess. If you’re confident, choose the H.A.R.P. as your third Scorestreak to track down the entire enemy team.

2. Change It Up. At this point in Season Two, there are several different melee weapons to choose from, like the Wakizashi and Machete. Switch it up between matches to keep things fresh, and if you still need to unlock any of their weapon camos, get to work on those challenges as well.

1. Press the Attack. You might feel like the best tactic is to hang back and wait for the enemy to come to you. That works in some situations, but don’t let it be your only strategy. Sometimes the best strategy is to run through the door and get in their face.

Execute the mission.
