Multiplayer Mode Guide — Face Off
A fast-paced suite of Core modes played on small Strike maps. Scorestreaks are disabled in Face Off for pure Operator versus Operator combat.
Prebrief
Welcome back Face Off to the Call of Duty® franchise. Returning to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the mode modifier that takes some of your favorite Core modes and gives them a small but meaningful twist. Face Off Playlists include three different modes, Face Off Team Deathmatch, Face Off Kill Confirmed, and a Face Off version of the brand-new mode Kill Order. The idea of Face Off modes is in the name; six players will face off against six opponent players with nothing but their Loadouts, all while taking place specifically on our smallest maps.

Intrinsic intensity. Face Off modes come with a natural intensity that doesn’t stop putting the pedal to the metal. Without Scorestreaks to slow teams down, the player vs. player interactions can be nonstop to maintain the tracers flying through the air.
Lush with Loadouts. Every type of Loadout is viable, however it’s important to keep in mind that choice is important. You may find the most success in close-range focused weapons and equipment.
Play your pace. No Scorestreaks means obvious danger indicators aren’t as apparent. It’s easy to give the enemy team a lot of scoring opportunities by running straight at them after every respawn. Remember to slow down and scan your 12 o’clock from time to time.
Mode Details
Team Size: 1-6 Players
Face Off is Call of Duty: Black Ops in its most pure, distilled, and concentrated form. Get all of the high-octane action hero moments and gameplay from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 through the lens of Face Off. Because of this and the fact that they take place on the smallest maps, your tactics may change for each Face Off mode, of which are Face Off Team Deathmatch, Face Off Kill Confirmed, and Face Off Kill Order. The only technical aspect that is changed in Face Off modes is that Scorestreaks are disabled. This technical modification can change the pace of the match as well as which Loadouts benefit most in a given match. Note that Face Off modes are also meant to be played on small/Strike maps, so Face Off Moshpit Playlists will take place on these smaller maps.
Operator Brief
Two teams will face off in one of three Face Off modes and battle until either team reaches the win condition. Below are the basic rules on how to win each of the Face Off modes that are available.
Face Off Team Deathmatch
6v6 Team Deathmatch where the objective is to reach 100 Eliminations. Scorestreaks are disabled and the mode is played on small/Strike maps.
Face Off Kill Confirmed
6v6 Kill Confirmed where the objective is to Eliminate enemy Operators and collect tags their tag. Reach 75 tags as a team to win the match. Scorestreaks are disabled and the mode is played on small/Strike maps.
Face Off Kill Order
6v6 Kill Order where the objective is to Eliminate the enemy HVT in order to gain the most Score for your team. All Eliminations are worth Score, but Eliminating the enemy HVT is worth the most. Scorestreaks are disabled and the mode is played on small/Strike maps. Protecting your HVT will be a bit more difficult on smaller maps when your enemy could always be around the next corner.
Tactics
Comms Above All Else
Teamwork is the best way to win in any Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer match, however without the use of Scorestreaks teamwork is even more vital to your team’s success.
Player vs. Player
Face Off is completely focused on player vs. player interaction, so it’s vital to build your Loadout appropriately. Sniper Rifles are still very powerful, but SMGs and close-ranged weapons and equipment might perform better in most cases. Using Loadouts that are completely focused on eliminations can be very beneficial when facing off against the enemy.
Personal Pacing
Considering that most small maps only take a few seconds to get into the action, it’s important to realize when you might be moving too fast. If you find that you’re gaining far more deaths than Eliminations, you may need to slow down and take a second to scan your surroundings. There’s likely an enemy Operator that is about to reveal themselves to the barrel of your weapon.
Team Pacing
Without a Hellstorm Missile to stop the enemy team flank, you’ll have to pay close attention to where the enemy is operating and communicate when to slow down or speed up to gain or keep the advantage against the movement of the other team.
Intel Wins Matches
There aren’t UAVs, Hellstorm Missiles, and Radar Pings aren’t available, so other methods are required for seeking out the action. Players may equip suppressor to weapons to stay stealthy, but because of the amount of respawns that might happen in a match of Face Off, the Recon Combat Specialty can give you the intel you need that other players may not always have.
Face Off Focused Loadouts
Here are a few loadouts that serve as great starting points when you’re unsure how to succeed during a Face Off match.
Completely Cooking
Sub Machinegun, Enforcer Combat Specialty
If you’re the style of player that is aggressive and ready to go into berserk mode when your team needs it most, this is the Loadout for you. It’s light and fast, but also has the ability to keep going when everything is going your way. Just remember, you don’t have to keep rushing in, especially when your team needs a regroup.
Excess Firepower XMG
Light Machine Gun, Recon Combat Specialty
For the player that loves the Recon Combat Specialty bonus, the Excess Firepower XMG Loadout turns your Operator into fully armed cannon ready for battle. With the XMG, you can lay down fire for your teammates without worrying about reloading nearly as often which allows you to cover your team while they re-arm. With the Recon Combat Specialty, you’ll also be able to feed your teammates valuable information, allowing teamwork to really shine through the fast-paced action that is a Face Off mode.
Nail and Hammer
SMG, Strategist Combat Specialty
The XM4 is the tried-and-true weapon of choice for most Black Ops agents in the field. It’s accurate and it fires fast enough to eliminate the enemy before they eliminate you. The entire purpose of the Nail and Hammer Loadout is to pin down the enemy and make sure they can’t advance on your position. It’s the anchor that keeps your team on the winning side of a tug-o-war. Obviously, the push and pull can swap rather quickly in a Face Off match, but having a solid Loadout means that the control can be swayed by your hands rather than not.
Face Off is the modification of other modes, so be sure to check out the guides on such modes as, Team Deathmatch and Kill Order, to absorb another layer of strategy that may come in handy when playing their Face Off versions. Just remember:
